Since a lot of us use our citi Custom Cash(es) as fill-ins for our quarterly 5% rotators that might be missing an important category that quarter, I started thinking about what the statement/payment due date should be for the CC. Since the citi CC is 5% highest spend per billing (not per calendar month), shouldn't we try to have the billing cycle align with the beginning of a quarter (i.e. beginning (or end?) of each calendar month)?
I looked and both my CCs had statement dates in the 20's. I think that means I run the risk of 20+ days of 1% (instead of 5%) in a certain spend category, if the beginning of the month started a new quarter and I switched my CC spending from, say, gas to dining to work with my rotators. It's after 1am, but am I making sense? lol
I changed both my CCs to the 1st of the month (I thought about the end the month but I couldn't pick higher than the 28th). Is the 1st the right move for the citi CC? Particularly when I might want to change my highest spend cat to align with the start of a new quarter?
Thanks in advance all!
Do you still use the AOD? Recommend? Is it for everyone or only members of something?
So, let me get this straight: you carry 6 cards in your wallet (3 rotators, AOD, and 2 CCC) and shuffle them all around for various spending categories each month/quarter? Each card for one category of purchase? And the cards that get used for each category change all the time? Pretty much 5% a cross the board except for AOD? Do you also carry all your 5% store cards? Man, that seems like an bear to keep organized.

Then wouldn't you want your statement to close on the 1st not due on the 1st? Or close as close to the first they allow (2nd,3nd) ?
If I didn't have my 7 daily drivers in my wallet how could I category spend?

I'm new to this CC game. Not sure what you mean by this.

@Anonymous is correct. I have my Citi cards set to a due date of the 27th. My statements usually close on the 1st.

Load some of the cards into a mobile wallet? I have over a dozen credit cards, but I rarely carry more than 3 at a time in my wallet. The others are used online, or rotated in/out as needed. My rule is for the 3 carried cards to be from 3 different banks and on 3 different payment networks.

Right?

What I mean is if I had one or two cards that included all my catagories I would only carry the one or two.
I have 7 cards that cover my categories and I carry them all. I have 3 that don't need to travel.
(And add two debit cards to the 7)
I had 6 cards and 4 at home until a few weeks ago. I went to the pharmacy and didn't expect a charge. Was suprised at the $15 bill and didn't have the correct card with me. I lost .52 cents because I used the wrong card.

Mobile wallet? Let me tell you what I think about giving all my CCs to one corporation AND handing them my aggregated spending data.

Now I have that off my chest. "Card in hand" is "Card in hand"

I'm beginning to see how seriously you all take this stuff. I carry the same three cards all the time and the categories never change, and I still have to think about which card to pull out. It drives me nuts. I'd go insane if I had the complexity you have. Hats off to you. It's impressive that you can keep it all straight. I wouldn't be able to.
