Re: What's up with Discover!??

I personally believe we all have an internal limit determined by our profile and income and won't be allowed to go past that.

Another excellent point many fail to mention. Just because so and so got a $25k Discover doesn't mean your profile will also support it. We have to remember that credit is an individual thing and yes, it can be nice to read anecdotes but at the end of the day your profile/income is the deciding factor for you.

Re: What's up with Discover!??

Re: What's up with Discover!??

Yep alot of people will end at 20k lol....   but, but I only stretched my income by 20 or 30k and my brother and mom live with me, so I also count that, well actually I live in my parents basement if you want full disclosure Smiley Tongue.

Needless to say if alot of people get to 20k, that is impressive in itself by SP's...

You can best believe that there are restrictions in place which is why many are getting denials or "need hp" message. Over $20k requires employment verification call. Over $25k requires employment docs. Discover is a billion dollar company and are far from stupid. They haven't just turned on the money spicket for an infinite amount of time. Just because they have loosened the purse strings doesn't mean they have gone bananas.

I agree Baller!  They know what they are doing and no doubt watching what is taking place very carefully.

No doubt they will also be watching the Double Cash Back Promotion very carefully to see how it impacts their business model.  It will be interesting to see what they do next summer when this new promotion expires and the bean counters work through this strategy of higher CL coupled with the promo.  No doubt the other banks are watching this, too.   Smiley Happy

Year 2012: All Scores in the 520 range, during a foreclosure, CC Settlement and high UTIL. Very ugly days...

Re: What's up with Discover!??

For some people that are getting increases..maybe Discover is not their highest limit and maybe Discover wants to be their highest limit. I know when I was approved, they gave me my highest limit at the time but that has since changed. Either way, I'm good with 10k.

While this may be true, I don't know why people believe the banks know what they are doing!   The 2008 crisis clearly showed that their risk models were all wrong.   Yes, they then tightened up, and may now be loosening, but that doesn't mean they have any better grasp than they did then.   Granted, credit card risks are probably smaller than mortgage-'backed' CDOs
