What's your favorite card and why?

I thought this was be an intersting thread to learn about different cards, and to hear others opinions about the cards. So, what's your favorite - or most used card card - and why? I only have a Discover It Chrome, so that's my favorite card ATM lol.

"Favorite" may be a strong word. Haha. Either way, I use my Chase Freedom and Discover IT cards most frequently, thanks to the rotating cashback categories.  I alos have the AmEx Blue Cash Everyday that I use at grocery stores.  I work at one so it comes in handy.  And for all other purchases, I just use the Capital One Quicksilver card.

I keep hearing good things about the Freedom. I'll have to wait a year or two before I app for that. Smiley Indifferent

For me, if they keep 1st Quarter bonus as grocery stores, I can easily max out on that quarter in no time!!!

Chase approved me for a Freedom with a similar score as yours but they pulled all 3 bureaus and of course I don't know what else you have on your report.

Freedom $3k, DCU $5k, BoA Rewards $1k, BoA Americard $2k, Barclay's Ring $3k, Cap 1 Plat $2k, QS1 $2k, Discover IT $500, Lowe's $10k

Scores: EQ 687, TU 709, EX 692

Re: What's your favorite card and why?

I'm not sure about my other scores. I have no baddies, but my credit history is like super new. I only have one new credit card, but I think my student loans may keep me from getting it because of the no more than the "five new accounts rule." I'm not sure if they count toward that or not, but they might.

It's a 3-way tie for me: Sallie Mae, BoA Cash Rewards, and Citibank Double Cash. Our biggest expenses are household bills, groceries, and gas. I use the Sallie Mae and BoA CR for groceries and gas until we max out the caps. Household bills and all overflow from groceries are charged to the Double Cash. I like earning cash back on regular monthly spend. It puts a smile on my face.Smiley Happy

Thanks for starting the thread OP. See you around the forum!

Re: What's your favorite card and why?

Probably my Cash+ for my particular spending. 5% fast food and 2% groceries covers a lot for me and unlike Amex I don't have to wait two months to see the reward (which doesn't really matter but is still annoying).

That said, if 5% fast food is axed (which I have no doubt it will be someday), it will be a much more niche use card for me.

Discover is my other favorite card. Some quarters I don't get a ton of use out of it, but I just respect them so much as a company.

Too many choices. Proudest approval was Doublecash at 0 for 18 then 13.99%.  Amtrak has probably the highest return of them all at almost 15% (not even including the amazing sign on bonus).  Ability to change to non AF version and keep AGR points longer.  Hard to beat discover apple pay.

I do like amazon as its 5% back OR 6-24 months no interest. Plus the fast CLIs.

My next favorite would probably be my credit union card. 2.9% for 12 months , 2.9% for unlimited months on BT's, 9.9% after. But after 1 year the account APR  goes down to 7.9% anyway!  Ability to move money back and forth between credit and checking with no cash advance fee (which makes no sense as a BT has 2% fee). Unlimited 1% back.  Strange thing with this card is on month 11 of the promo, you could initiate a BT.  And it stays at that rate until you pay it off. That is kind of cool.  I will probably never use this. Just nice to know any future BT offers also work this way.

My least favorite and most disappointing is Sams.  The gift card at signup is minimal...you do have special financing offers quite often....but they need to be more clear with their Mastercard. They should just say, carry our PLCC for one year and then become eligible for the MC.

I also love care credit. $200+ is 6 months no interest. Great for dental or dermatology stuff. Pet bills too!

Re: What's your favorite card and why?

Ink Cash, multi-purpose. None of my other cards get 5% back on cable and cell each month + 2% dining. Discover is a close second but I've stopped using it as much aside from paying rent. Think I've taken advantage of enough Discover Deals lately. Smiley Very Happy
