FINALLY Amex shows me some love!!!
Thanks everyone for all of your help. You were right!
PS a few months ago I added my sister an AU on my BOA card with 5 years of history and 15k limit and she was approved for Amex Blue Cash tonight. That's a double Amex whammy!!! I only knew to add her as an AU to boost her score bc of this site. So thank myFICO and everyone here for your wonderful advice!!!
Congrats on the Zync approval! BTW you should call the Amex Executive # 212-640-2000 and ask for reconsideration on the CLI. When you talk to the nice person let them know that you want the Amex Blue to be your primary card because of the rewards and benefits but it's hard to with only $1k limit. Let them know of the high limits you have with other creditors and that are you only asking for 3x the current limit. Depending on what time you call they might be able to speak with an underwriter for an instant decision otherwise you will get a call back with an answer.
To answer your original question, when I asked for my first CLI on my Blue Cash Card (61 days after activation) I asked for 3X my current CL from 2K to 6K my EX Fico was 786 instant approval, I then waited six months and asked for 4K CLI and they countered me with 1,500 bringing my Blue Cash to 7500 (I hardly used the card and EX Fico still at 786) when I requested a CLI on my Blue Cash Preferred just a few weeks ago from 5K to 12.4 K my EX Fico was 798 instant approval (I use this card very heavily).
But IMO, your credit score is only a very small part with AmEx's decision to grant you a CLI, your length of time as a cardholder with them and your payment history with them are the biggest factors, as well as several other factors listed on your CR at the time you request the CLI, such as util, accounts with balances etc......
I did not read but the first page of replies in this thread, I just wanted to answer your original question.

Thanks, Mustang. I was using "credit score" as an overall indication of your profile. I guess mine is not strong enough in AMEX's opinion for them to offer me a CLI. I do need to let my accounts age and let some INQs drop. I'll keep an eye on this and report back soon.

Thanks, fusion! I am too scared to call. Lol. For now I will just be happy with my Zync and the backdating and wait at least 6 months before I try to CLI again. By then my report should be pristine.

You're welcome and I just did read that you were approved for the Zync.
Congratulations!!!
I agree with you that you should not press your luck by calling back and reconing the CLI request, just sit back, use your cards, build a great payment history with AmEx, wait for some of the inq's to fall off and get your report/s looking pristine, and in 6 months or so, give a CLI on your Blue a shot again.
I'm Wishing you the Very Best of Luck
I know this is a bit off topic but what score is even needed to apply for a Amexcard of any sort and have a shot at approval . I have the darn prepaid being mailed to me just to see if this will help at all to try and get in with Amex . Not sure if it realy will but cant hurt and doesnt cost me anything ethier way !
Seems like scores over 720, but most likely over 700 for their revolvers. Amex likes balances only on one card at the time of app and the utilization should be below 9% on the one card that is reporting a balance.
Also, they don't care for inquiries. They also use their own scoring which can score you several points below FICO. They tend to pull all three reports and use the lowest one to begin basing their criteria on.
This has been my experience with them and some of the info I got after my last denial.
Hope this helps, but if not toss
Closing on the CLI date for me. Hoping on the 3X

I agree with JustDoinIt that the scores should be above 700. But you can search through the forums to find the link to see if you are pre-approved for any Amex cards. I would start there, bc at least there is likely a higher chance of success if you are currently pre-approved.
I currently have balances on about 5 cards reporting and utilization overall at around 14%. But I've had my Amex card for 5 years and have had a very good history with them, although I haven't used it at all in recent months.
