What should I apply for

I will be closing on my house in about 30 days and I have been searching the forums on what cards to apply for and reading data points. Hoping for some help here.

it appears Lowe's is more friendly than home depot so looking at applying for a Lowe's card. I also have a NFCU savings account so considering applying for the Amex. I want to apply for 1 more. I enjoy reward cards but I also have a sketchy credit history.

I have a foreclosure from 2015 a BofA card that was charge off but I paid it in full in 2019 and then a car loan that had several lates from 2016-2017 but is paid off now.

as far as current credit I have a USAA secured card ($1500) but I want to close that has it provides no benefit for me. Capitol 1 secured ($500) that i only keep because it's one of my oldest cards (opened in 2018). Capitol 1 QS ($750) and Ulta rewards MC ($3500). I also have 2 personal loans from one main (I did these before I found this forum) that will be paid off in September. My goal is to enhance my overal credit profile to help my reach the high 700s (not sure if that's possible with my 3 derogs).

what do you think my chances of approval are. My current scores are

Experian 682

Equifax 673

Transunion 677

and I expect these to move up a few points after they report as I have brought down my utlization below 20%. Any advice is welcomed.

Synchrony can go either way, I'd see if there was anything you can do to improve your scores a little bit before applying.

I don't think your credit report has to be perfect for them, but any improvement would help.

Since they've been acting a little bit on the twitchy side with approvals then closing accounts I would suggest you pick card that's most important to you and go from there instead of attempting to do three at one time.

As far as which one should be "another one" , that's a little bit hard to answer without knowing more about what you're spending money on and what you're looking for in a card

@Remedios

I have a Capitol one QS and I like the rewards particularly cash back.

Re: What should I apply for

Between the QS and the Navy More, you'd have 1.5% off-cat w/ 3% on groceries, dining, gas, and transit.  Are there any other cashback categories that are a usual part of your spend?

Re: What should I apply for

@Slabenstein @Yes that is mostly what I use the cards for. Eventually (year or so) I would like a travel card. On NFCU in my offers it hard the AMEX. Do you think that means I have a good chance of being approved?

Re: What should I apply for

If cashback is what you're looking for right now and you don't have any other spend categories that would give you a decent cashback return, it might be best to just open the Lowe's and More (once you have the keys to your house in hand) and hold off on your third card for further down the line.  The Navy prequal site isn't really a reliable indicator of approval odds, if that's what you're looking at, but from what you've shared of your profile I'd think you'd have a decent shot.

If you have an iPhone, try doing a SP for the Apple Card by Goldman Sachs.

It's no harm to your credit since a SP gives you a no obligation offer.....

This month they are giving 6% cash back on Apple purchases.

I love my Apple Card 2% at groceries!
