Thanks for the update ohreally!
I wish it was more of one, AJC!! But always appreciate your comments and your general positive support! I'd love to be out of this holding pattern with Synchrony one way or the other, but for now, I'm just thankful that at least those cards remain open, for utilization reasons if nothing else!
@Anonymous wrote:While Synchrony has been behaving in an unpredictable manner lately, I don't think she should be concerned with only one account, unless her utilization is very high or unless she has opened a ton of other accounts lately. She should be fine.
Use the card every 1-2 months for even a small purchase to maintain a regular record of activity, keep utilization reasonable, and asking for just an occasional CLI when needed instead of several mega CLI's should help.
I would not let the card go too long without usage, as CLD's have occurred with Synchrony when a card goes a number of months without usage. None of us know the exact number of months for this to occur, but two people have reported CLD after 4 and 5 months of non-usage. To be safe in that arena, I'd say to use the card at least every other month.
If her card is a store card, they may upgrade her to the AEO Visa once she demonstrates regular usage and payments.
Hope she enjoys her new card!
+1!!!
I think she will be fine. In general, those hit with these account freezings have opened more than 3 accounts with Synch in the course of a few months. I've had more than a 12 year relationship with them, but I did open a few majors (Visas/MCs) in a row with them, late June/early July. My accounts didn't get frozen, however, until I added my mom as an AU to my Walmart card. Within a couple of hours, they were all locked. Again, though, I think she is safe as long as there isn't a spike of unusual/risky activity on her credit reports.

So i sent the form in july
....just got a letter back saying they closed all of my accounts....
Had to call all of my cards to pay them off, no big deal
So the STASH card i had,
i called in july and it said i had zero balance
Fast forward to today i received a nice late payment on my transunion account saying i owed 30 dollars
Where do i go from here? Do i just call the generic number for stash card? Can they take this off if i call?
Sorry this happened. What exactly told you that you had zero balance, an automated system? Probably it would have been a good idea to call in August as well as some interest or fees were most likely added.
This happens to more than a few people when they close a card - they hear it is a zero balance, and they don't keep checking the following month to ensure that no additional interest has been added, which is very possible and can happen.
I doubt they will remove the late on TU if it is interest or an amount you actually owed., but good luck.

This is what concerned me too. We just recently added our daughter as an AU to our Walmart card. After everything that went on, I was really worried that it would cause problems, BUT...I'm hoping that the way I handled it avoided that.
I called them first and asked if it would even be okay for us to do that given her age. (She's only 17.) However, our Walmart card is our gas card. She runs errands for us and helps drive her siblings around. As such, we wanted her to have access to the family gas card. They said it wouldn't be a problem as long as she was 16 and added her while I was on the phone with them.
So far, we've not had any issues and we added her about a month ago well into the start of the Synchrony problems.
Received update income notice on Walmart account when I logged in just now. I chose the "Maybe Later" option lol. And was able to go into my account like normal. Are you guys getting this as well? Are you updating or ignoring? I am really trying to stay under the radar with these guys.
