I had my CareCredit since 2012 and on 01/30/17 decided to app for a Marvel MasterCard. FICO scores around 800+, no missed payments or any baddies, and was instantly approved for $10K. Next day I called in for CLI and was declined as my account was too new. Few days later, my account was frozen and I haven't received my card yet.
Did some research and the dreaded "blue envelope" came in the mail on the same day my card came. Given that my total exposure with Synchrony is only about $15K, I was a bit surprised of what had ensued. Decided to close both accounts and with it my history with CareCredit.
Part of my decision was that I didn't want to share my personal data with Conexis. At least I have a nice shiny Marvel Shield as a souvenir.
Whoa! So sorry this happened to you, baron. It looks like the unpredictability of Synchrony continues. I don't blame you one bit for closing your accounts. I would do the same.

Oh yeah ML, cant wait for this years new crop of forum newbies to stumble on this one. But i think its just as applicable today as was months back. When planning on apping Sync cards SPACE out the apps, try not to get a bunch in a month lol. That, was a big take away for me.
I do find it interesting to see that , recently, on some cards, Sync doesnt necessarily jump up your limit with a call to CS right away. Have noticed many recent posters who get approved for lets say the Marvel mc and where as when it first came out we would call before we even had the card and bam, increase city. Seems for some now, even with good scores, have to wait a statement or 2. Just some Sync food for thoughts
You know, Joe, I have to agree that the information is just as applicable today as it was when the thread was begun. My hope is that if someone is having strange things happen with Synchrony and they take the time to read the thread, they will know what we know. Thanks to all the contributors for sharing their stories.
Oh good to know as my Synch accounts are climbing a little. I've recently increased all of them and got a new Marvel card. I'm going to lay low and not ask for any CLIs (really I don't need any) until I'm over 700 on TU and have at least a few statements under my belt on the Marvel.

Sounds like a good plan, Mrs.CHX.
Yep, first Sync card opened in 5 years and got hit with a blue envelope on the same day my credit card arrived. Their credit card department is pretty clueness and unwilling to help either.

That is so crazy. Just shows the ongoing validity of this thread, I guess. Sigh...

I don't understand why you were ok with 5k on your carecredit (for 5 yrs), but when given a SL of 10k on a new Marvel, you called for a CLI? Maybe that's why the Blue envelope?
I have an ON - 4300 and Gap - 3000. Don't use Gap. Want to close it, but nervous about it. Logged on just to look at account (both have zero bal.). Got income question, which I answered. Got income question with Amazon also. Question.....Should I close Gap and reduce exposure? Have about $50K exposure with Synchrony (Lowes, Sams, Belk, WM, Amazon, Care Credit, Sunglass Hut).
