When can you PC for Amex?

Personally I'll be opening amex plat and amex gold at the same time. After year 1 close the platinum and see about upgrading the gold - that way I get both SUBs and the upgrade bonus but no AF on the gold for year 1 so concerning annual fees it's like I just had a Platinum for 2 years.

This depends on a lot of things such as if the PC is a downgrade or upgrade, what product family, and so on.

Would it be possible to maybe PC from the SPG AMEX to Hilton AMEX (No AF)? Or does it have to be from the same product family?

I was going to refer my SO to apply for the SPG AMEX so I can get the referral bonus. However, she doesn’t want to pay the annual fee after a year which is why I’m iffy of telling her to do it.
