Which Card Has Greater SL Potential?

Which Card Has Greater SL Potential?

I'm downsizing and I'm wanting to pay cash for a $1500-2000 car using a (ideally) 0% intro card (talk about an oxymoron).

So my question is which card has the greater potential for either a high starting limit and/or increased limit in first 3 months? I gotta make it good, after this it's the garden for me. I'm considering an Amex BCE which I've prequalified for via the site, Alliant CU (new member), or Marvel card due to possible flexibility with SL.

I understand some allow for recon before getting the card, so that's something to consider too.

Open to others too. General stats: 30% UTI across 4 cards totaling $6900, 690 FICO average for Transunion & Equifax, and AAoA is 6 months (my journey started a year ago).

you may want to just head for the garden and get your UTI down some or ask for CLI's. It depends on a lot for a lender to give a high SL. Whats your EX score, thats what amex looks at and they can give out limits all over the place. Others will chime in.

Re: Which Card Has Greater SL Potential?

Id probably say the Amex just because the potential for 3x after 61 days. If you get a decent sl, you could do nicely. Marvel is one of the stricter cards from Sync to get instant cli in my opinion. Plus Sync has changed since the card first came out. Alliant no clue but perhaps they are conservative?. If you had Navy id say Navy hands down.

Re: Which Card Has Greater SL Potential?

Thanks. The CC is kinda a backup. I much rather just save up the 1500-2000 but if I can avoid being without a car I would like to. I'll note my EX score before doing anything with Amex, I appreciate it (forgot the exact score. Not sure if its 690 or 705).

Re: Which Card Has Greater SL Potential?

The SL may not be astronomical, but the Citi Diamond Preferred should be enough for your purchase.  0% for 21 months and a good chance of a SP CLI in 3-6 months.  May want to check to see if you prequalify on their website.  With your current stats, I think an initial toy limit for the BCE is likely which would not be enough to cover your purchase, or at best would completely max out the card.

NFCU would be great for a starting line, but as far as I know their only offers right now are for balance transfers not purchases.  Same with PenFed, either 0% or 4.99% on balance transfers only.  Too bad, as both have several cards with spend X get Y back which could save OP money on the car and get them free financing.

My cousin just got a Navy card for $5K. I had a joint account with an ex that they messed up so sadly I have to resolve that before doing any biz with them, but I'll keep them in mind. Thanks!

^ this

i would add that if your looking for a 90 day CLI then you should go with AMEX. my question is what exactly do you considering a high SL?

If SL is really important than you should look at credit unions such as NFCU which have higher than normal SL but they probably don't give 90 day CLI but i could be wrong

when i started my rebuilding  journey back in May 2016 i had toy limits of $500-$700 then in October AMEX gave me a $1,400 SL so that was a high SL for me.

With your scores, AAOA and uti AMEX may start you between $500-$1000....Citi Diamond $900-$1500....Marvel, I bet $1500...Don't know much about Alliant other than hearing they are conservative.

I appreciate you giving me this info...wondering how me having a Walmart card already may affect my limit with Marvel. As far as what's a high limit, I know it's subjective, just was wondering which of the ones mentioned would offer highest. Really appreciate the insight once again!!
