Why Not Go Ahead and Send Tax Return now than wait? AMEX

So I'm just doing my norm thing before going to bed and checking my people here... anyway, I ran into alot of Synchrony hold and asking for 4506T? or tax return? I'm specially curious with AMEX. Specially being a charge card and all, and only taking your "words" for your income.

Anyway, to resolve any potential problem (e.g. hold on the account, suspend for 2 weeks or more) - why not go ahead and submit your Tax return now than wait till you get "FR"? just out of curiousity. When I reported my income, I only reported MINE, I didnt report my husband's so if they are just going to check our tax return it will be 2-3x what I apped for because I dont think I should use my husband's income for my card.

Well, just a thought, reading all the FR and suspension makes me want to send them my bank statement and tax return so I never have to be bothered that they will one day suspend my account because I hit the "check spending limit" more than too many times... or that I used my AMEX on Paypal for whatever other reasons.

Your thoughts?

If anyone asks for my tax forms specifically they can shove it. They can have my pay stubs or bank statement, but no tax forms because I don't want my private information in the hands of a third party.

I only see a few people having their Synchrony accounts frozen.  I see a lot of people being upset although they haven't been affected personally.

Why not just wait until we can get an idea of why certain accounts are being frozen?  Why send them info when they didn't ask for it?  I am sure that would trigger a manual review.

I just got a CLI on my Amazon Prime card by calling Synchrony.  I must not be on their list.

I am going to continue to do what I have done with my rebuild.  Take a slow approach.  Don't over extend my credit profile.  Look after my needs not my wants.

Sounds like a swell idea, why not send DNA samples to all your local law enforcement agencies too, just in case there's a crime, you can be excluded. No way I'm sending a credit card my tax statements as a pre emptive move not even if they request them, sorry but if I'm suspected of fraud, no tax document can solve that issue unless it's an income issue.

When you applied you gave them all your info and they agreed to extend credit on that info, if you were honest there should be no issue and they shouldn't bother you. They assume a certain amount of risk and its up to them to extend credit, if they decide later on they want your tax info I'd say take a long walk on a short pier, but it's your call.

Do as you please, but I'd certainly refrain from sending anything that hasn't been requested of you. They probably wouldn't even know what to do with your taxes if they haven't been requested, heck they'd probably even get suspicious of you for doing so, who knows. Just enjoy your card and don't fear the unknown that's likely to never happen anyway.

I'll save the rant and just say ditto.  There is simply no credit card out there that I will submit a 4506 for.

You haven't done that already?  Get with the times.

Agree completely with everything you write. Amex would not even know what to with the tax returns if they didn't request them.

In the first place, the Synchrony account closings ( I have not been following closely because I have none of their accounts ) are a Synchrony thing to make decisions about where to extend credit.

Your AMEX account is based first on your credit profile (to get the card initially) and then very much on your actual usage and payment patterns of the card. There is a SP review periodically, so yes, AMEX will be checking where your other accounts are, but as long as you are paying your AMEX within terms (more payment being better of course) there should be no problems.

It looks like you got three AMEX cards very recently. Congratulations for that. Now you just need to use the cards for items you buy everyday anyway, and pay the statement. In the case of the Platinum, pay in full of course. For the credit cards, don't go over the limit, at least not early on, and try to pay in full and at least the minimum. Over the course of time your profile with AMEX will improve as they see your payment habits. From your stated income on the application, they have some idea of spend patterns and what your spend / pay profile might look like, but that's something you will be showing them, with your actual activity on the card.

With the other cards you have, the improvement in your scores this year, and that you got three AMEX in a very short time, it's a good time to stop apping and work on building your buy / spend / pay relationship with AMEX, and with all your other cards for that matter.

Building credit takes time, just like building trust, and it is unlikely AMEX will take any Adverse Action against you unless you are doing something really out of the ordinary.

Good luck!

lol! I'm sorry just asking the question - and you are absolutely right. I'm so new to all these, and I can't think of anything that's in my tax return that will be just for "personal" it has all the regulars, mortgage, income and that's it... I meant nothing by it by asking.

I mean if I was to send it, I'll call and tell them that I want to send my 4506T so they can verify my income now Smiley Very Happy

My AMEX though open just recently has been a member for ten years and requested it closed back then and paid in full. I dont know I'm just paranoid, dont mind this foo Smiley Happy

They aren't worthy of that information nor are they worthy enough to dare to ask for it.
