Why are MiFico credit scores so different from the scores I find in my WAMU Credit Card Statement

I have a credit card with WAMU that offers free FICO scores every month and as I compare those scores with the ones I pull from MYFico, the difference is almost 100 points! why?

Re: Why are MiFico credit scores so different?

That's a good and valid question masoale. And welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of information, and very knowledgeable people here to help you.

The score you see on your WaMu credit profile page IS a litigimate FICO score.

It's just modified/adjusted for the credit card industry. FICO scores factor in different credit instruments like mortgage, car loan, etc. PFICO does not.

We call it the PFICO score here.

I have 2 WaMu cards and my PFICO scores much different than the scores I get from myFiCO.

The PFICO score can be higher or lower than your standard FICO score according to your history of credit card use. Also, it is a month behind the current ones, so if you have a lot of changes going on (balances going up or down, new cards opening, new late), the two can be quite different. The PFICO from WaMu is derived from your TU report.

The standard FICO's here are the ones typically used for mortgage applications. There is yet another tweaked version for auto loans, that puts more weight on your auto loan history.

Re: Why are MiFico credit scores so different?

That's true, but if you have a good feel for your overall CC history, you might be able to guess which way the CC FICO will go (up or down.) I wonder if a really different CC FICO underlies a lot of the surprise denials and AF's and low CL's.

But then again, it could well be the phase of the moon, and woolly-bear caterpillars, and other Great Mysteries! GL
