No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
If it's off your report early, I'd steer well clear until it's definitely past the CRTP. I wouldn't risk it.
Lenders most absolutely keep their own internal records.
The time limits on reporting negatives on your credit reports has absolutely nothing to do with how long a lender keeps info in their own internal records. For instance, WFNNB wipes their records after two years, and if your reports are clean for the past 24 months, they will stop reporting your lates. Unfortunately, it is much more common that lenders will shoot you down for past misbehavior, even if it no longer shows on your reports.
Some lenders will let you back in the fold after you burn them; others won't. My understanding is that Citi won't, but I will step back and let others report their own experiences.
Citi is but one of many card issuers out there. Why would you even care to consider risking it if you're concerned enough about the issue to ask opinions here? It's obvious by your asking that you're wiser than to give it much serious consideration.
Citi isn't that great to people they consider to have "clean" history. I wouldn't ask them to dig into their records with your name, addy and ss# along with a HP, knowing they could throw a past mistake in your face.
Regarding what Tinuviel and Hauling posted: +1000 [edit]: Include Android01 in there, post showed after I finished writing this one.
Ortz33_... your best bet would probably be to avoid going near any of Citi's or their affiliates products for a while. I'd go as far as to say checking who actually backs anything you're thinking of applying for, to make very sure it's not Citi, would be a much better idea.
what state are you in and when did it get charged off.
based on your answer, its possible i wouldnt even apply for anything else until the right time. they are probably getting soft pulls of your credit report. if the time to collect has not passed, and they see new credit activity, you will have disturbed the beast.
back to my question though
If I were you, I'd steer clear of Citi right now. Do not wake the sleeping giant.

Would I be waking a sleeping giant (in terms of collections) if I app'd for Citi, or is this totally wiped from their systems???? Do they forgive ?
Thanks!
I think you would be. Wait until it's close to 8 years SOL just to be on safe side. More than likely you are blacklisted with them, so you may want to pay it first.

Why in the world would you want to risk AA with Citi? I don't understand why people would even think about asking a creditor who they burned to extend them new credit. Leave well enough alone and consider yourself lucky.
No offense intended (I mean that)
But I have to agree 100% with android, steer clear and consider yourself VERY lucky.
Stay as far away as you can from Citi. At least for the next 10 years. But knowing htem, they will still have you on their records.
