Yet Another Cap One Problem

I had an Orchard Bank card for 6 years, never late, etc. I have gone on FB several times, called CSR's and had one call back because of FB message. I have gotten every answer imaginable. The latest was to wait for the physical new Cap One card to arrive and then call them. I received it in the mail (Cap One Platinum) and called. I explained how my credit picture had drastically changed and all the accompanying BS, told them what the previous rep said and that I was just following their own instructions so I could get a better card with a SP as I had been told. The response was that I should go on the Cap One site and push the CLI button. Also, the CSR told me, "I would advise you to wait until the transition is more complete and then we might give you a better deal with a soft pull".

I have read many discussions on here, some with great success and some with not much. I don't know what to do next. I told her I have a card with a CL of 11K but that didn't seem to matter. I don't want to get in a position, i.e.. stuck with one of the "lower" cards, push the button, not get much of an increase because of the type of card it is and then have to wait for I don't know how long to get a card I think I deserve or be forced to take a HP.

Thanks to everyone for any advice. The spot in my shredder for credit cards is starting to look good.....

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

You know they are under transition, so just wait.  If they close it so be it. If they raise the limit after the transition so be it.  With citi, chase and discover why are you even worried about it?

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

You are right. I think it just got to be an issue with me because I don't like inefficiency. Anyway, I was also hoping to get around 8-10K with a SP.

Thanks for the advice!

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

But my paltry "Discover" card only has a CL of $300. It's another HSBC card (I also have another one with a CL of $500)  which Cap One is not planning on doing anything with until at least next year, if at all. I keep getting the real DiscoverIt offers in the mail literally every day. I just don't know if it's the best card for me or not. It also seems like they don't start you out with a very high CL. Not sure I want to risk a HP for that. I have been in the garden for one year!!!

I might edge out of the garden though...LOL!

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

Did you ask through EO? If not, do so. As for CLI, I doubt you will get anything near that 10k. You basically have one outlier card at 10k. Your orchard card is basically a newbie card. Given how cap one buckets their cards, a good result would be the following: pc to quicksilver or adding 1.5% cash back. Af waived or permanently waived (if you have one), and cl to 5-8k. Also cap one generally doesn't like to be your highest cl.

Call EO or Facebook. Ask for 10k and other stuff I mentioned. I bet you get all of it and cl of 6.5k. As for the discovers, I don't think cap one is dealing with those right now so I would wait on those or cancel them.

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

I did not ask through the EO. I don't have the number or email. I just thought I world try FB.

If they will PC to Quicksilver, is it a HP? I only have 2 inq; one falls off around 11/13 and the other 2 are one year old this month.

Thanks for the help. I always like your knowledgeable posts.

Please PM the EO info. I googled it but not sure if the numbers or email is the correct ones. Have a great day!

SP for CAP1

PM on the way

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Yet Another Cap One Problem

Thank you SO much! As long as you are online, I might do a small app spree. Any thoughts about DiscoverIt vs. Barclays vs. B of A?

Thanks in advance.

You caught me at the right time was on my way to the store but I have some time LOL

Your INQ's are low so ......good to go

Cards in SIG.........great limits .........good to go

Scores....good to go

I have been getting mail every week from BofA so I have been doing research on the 123 (good card)

I have a barclay card and love them

Discover is a good card but is all over the place with limits but I think you have a better chance for a decent limit

If you app do Barclay first so they don't see any INQ's not that it will matter much with your low INQ's

I think you will be approved for all 3 no doubt IMHOSmiley Wink
