Amex has done something special with this card. They have a good shot at someone using them exclusively. If the rewards are right..... No hate, I would love to have one, but then I would have to figure how to use it,.

I think it could be nice but if you aren't an big traveler don't know how great it would be. I am leaning toward fidelity amex for an everyday card to use
As has been said, it (mainly) comes down to how you value MR, which depends on how you intend to use. If you value them enough, it is a great card, if not, not.
I'll add my two cents. I have only had the card two weeks. When I spoke to the rep online she was very nice and did encourage that they welcome it being used for everyday purchases big or small.
Since I only had it two weeks before my first statment cut, I did not make the 20 charges and lost out on the 20% bonus which I was disappointed about. I had 14 charges within the two weeks. I do plan to put a lot on this card during the first 3 months to meet the 20% bonus as well as to earn the 15,000 MR bonus points for the intro offer.
I am not a big traveler but I do travel. I got the Amex Everyday card because I have other cards I feel that offer decent cashback rewards. I felt that when I was planning to travel, I would have the card and the ability to use it then. I wish I had had it a year ago, as I was living in a different state then and my daughter was flying to and from college to our home a lot and at that point in time is would have been quite useful. So even though we are not doing a lot of traveling at present, that doesn't mean a year from now things could change.
Also, I wanted to secure my Amex membership for any future cards I might be interested in for back dating. I really like the card. Both my Amex and Barclay SM cards are the first ones where my interest rate is 12.99% which I am happy about. The Everyday is my only points card and I need to learn a bit more to maximize the value but I feel this is the company and hopefully the card that will offer me some flexibility and value when I need it. If not, no harm done in putting it in the sock drawer. I do have my netflix, MyFico and a few other re-occuring charges set up for this card, so they will see some activitiy regardless.
I think that if you are going to use the card a lot or have ony a few cards with lesser rewards, then it's great. However, I also think the BCP is worth the price of the AF.

for me personally, i am leaning towards down grading BCP to an everyday whenever i can. I will have sallie mae for cashback and gas purposes , and will use ED to rack up amex MR points. I don't know if or when amex will allow for PC to ED tho
wanna know the secret? especially for you grocery shoppers? split it between 2 or 3 swipes at the register. or however many you want. if your grocery store has self checkout, youre golden. it also makes it look like heavy usage. who knows, some lenders might count the number of swipes as heavy spending e.g. more than 50 swipes a month.

I thought that it might take some extra swipes, like mentioned, but since getting the card I have found that 20 swipes is really very easy. I have 5 US recurring bills that go on the card. I don't really spend excessive amounts of money every day, but I easily hit 15 swipes a month just buying small drinks and snacks before work daily (I have always done this.. just now I put it on the ED). Then when I have something bigger that I would like to buy with Amex purchase protection, I can put it on the Amex and not have to worry about whether I will hit the bonus.... I already have it. I am able to make over 20 US transactions on my ED in the first month without even living in the US.
To comment on the OP's thread title, no this is not a joke. The EveryDay is the real thing. This card earns FULL MR. And it is free. It allows many 1:1 point transfers to airline and hotel partners, equating to much greater values than a straight cash-back card. What other free cards from any other lender do anything like this?

Does anyone really use their card 20-30 a month? Just one card non the less? I think I swipe my card 8-10 times a month.
Never assume that your situation is universal no matter what the topic. "I don't" never equals "no one does". I certainly have cards that get such heavy usage. If you don't then don't apply for the Everyday based on the 20-30 swipe bonus.
Definitely don't simply dismiss that which doesn't suit you as a joke.

Worth is always a highly subjective matter and worth on this one really depends on spend and other considerations. There's a chart floating around that compares the rewards on different levels of spend with the BCP, BCE, Sallie Mae and dual Sallie Maes. Different solutions could be best suited to different people. The old Blue Cash may be better for some.

But how much is an extra 20% equal?
20% = 20%. There's no way to give you a fixed number since it would depend on one's spend.

Makes sense but there MR bonus suck because MR points suck compared to UR from Chase.
Subjective matter. I find UR more useful but this isn't a one-size-fits-all matter. Why are you so intent on shooting down the Everyday? If it doesn't suit you it doesn't suit you. That's it. Move on to what does suit you. Stop assuming that everyone else is identical to you. No one card is a best fit for everyone.
