No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Exactly. Don't poke the Barclays bear. They're too prone to adverse action. We've seen it for a vast array of reasons, and this fits right in. Besides not being worth the risk, it's not worth the inconvenience.
Additionally, Barclays CLIs (like Barclays AA) are all over the map. There's no solid evidence that spending is going to help you. It doesn't hurt to try, of course, but you're trying too hard.
By the way, you might get an extra year's warranty if you use AMEX.

I have done the following....
- scheduled a payment on Barclays site for tomorrow for 499$
-scheduled a bill to be paid from my bank ( Schwab) to Uber visa card to be sent tomorrow
hopefully one of these methods will work
I have tried talking to CS they made it very clear it's not allowed to prepay and the CS told me I should wait 1-3 years before requesting a CLI......
if somehow none of these work, I will use my Amex
It should work as far as getting money to Barclays, however they might be one of the issuers that do not raise your credit limit from the overpayment. Some do and others don't. US-Bank's Cash Plus does and both my FNBO Cards don't. Can't remember about the Sallie Mae.
I guess you will find out soon!
I also like LowLimits gift card idea.
+1
You can add Capital One to the 'no' list.
A while back I submitted a payment from WF's bill pay; I got an error message and rather than fight with it I went to my USAA account and submitted the payment from there. A few days later I realized the WF payment had been successful after all, leaving my Capital One card with a credit balance of just over $1800.
Rather than request a refund, I simply charged against the credit balance, but my available credit never reflected more than my "real" credit limit. As charges would go from 'authorized' to 'posted' my credit balance would be reduced and my credit limit would revert back to my assigned credit line.

I think I have pissed off the bear. I Can't log into my Barclay account not even after a password reset.
there is 1439$ in pending payments
update : looks like their website was down
thanks everyone. it worked !!!
CS told me payment should be credited tomorrow. but they can legally hold it for 7 days
See what the available credit says after it clears... it might still say $500.

just called them. they said I will have a credit line of 938.67 on Monday ( after 3 days).
apparently, there is a system hold on my account that they cant remove because my account is new and there were a lot of payments. they are worried I might reverse the payments
final update:
you cant use more than your credit limit even if you push payments with barclay

That's what I was afraid of... sorry it didn't work out.
@Anonymous, if your limit is $500, why is your available credit only $311? Are there pending charges?
