Just out of curiosity folks.  Smiley Wink

How will the credit card companies treat us if we get a AF card and close it before next renewal. Will they offer us again a new same card/different card down the line 3 mos or 6 mos later?

Re: how much do you spend in a year for AF?

$0 for credit cards, but my overdraft protection for my checking has increased to $12 per year.

On the one hand, I never use it and feel like maybe I should cancel it; but on the other hand, $12 per year  for peace of mind isn't that much.  Besides I hear that they charge people more than $12 when they bounce checks these days and the pity of it is that the people pay the fee and the check is returned to the sender.  I also realize that there is some sort of fee, even with overdraft protection but since I haven't used it in over $15 years, I don't know the amount.

I guess I just have to realize that I blow more than $1 per month on other things so $1 for overdraft insurance isn't that much.  Yes, I have to think of it like insurance.  I pay insurance on my car monthly, insurance on my house, etc.  Insurance is for peace of mind to protect the things you care about or that would cause financial hardship to do without (i.e. peace of mind).

Um, most credit unions allow you to link the savings account for overdraft.  Never needed.  They also offer lines of credit, don't use them as of now.  Fee if I bounce something is $5.  Never heard of paying for overdraft protection.

Biz SPG - free 1st year (65)

PRG - free 1st year (195)

Platinum - $450

Biz Platinum - $450

Prestige - $450

Fidelity - $200

NFCU - $49

$1994 this year....  $2254 next year... ouch!

But I do take advantage of the airline credits which total to $1050.  I suppose you can subtract that off the total AF's.

So far only

AmEx Delta Gold $95

It hasn't billed yet but it will more than pay for itself with the check bag fee. My wife and I travel pretty frequently with Delta for business and pleasure so it will pay for itself many times over.

Re: how much do you spend in a year for AF?

Odd to pay for overdraft protection. I have a Capital One 360 checking and they have an overdraft line of credit. If you go over it's basically a 11.25% APR loan for the amount and duration you are over. It's what made me switch after getting hit with $72 in overdraft fees from US Bank after I let my balance dip to -$20 for a few days (this would have cost me literally pennies at Capital One).
