I am definitely looking forward to the OP updating us as to why they made the decision to pull the rewards.
Curious: did you happen to return said items? If you did, that could be why the cashback was pulled back regardless of card used.
I'm sorry to hear about the removal of rewards and I appreciate that you've come at this realizing that you probably shouldn't have been eligible for the cashback to begin with because you didn't use a Discover card.
For those wondering, here's the specifics on one of the Discover Deals. Emphasis is mine. This is not aimed at OP:
Offer is not valid in combination with any other offers. Must have cookies enabled on your web browser, link to retailer site from the Discover Deals web page, found at Discover.com/deals or through the Discover mobile app, and use your Discover card for each transaction.
Cardmembers who participate in a Cashback Bonus Program will receive the specified Cashback Bonus on Discover Deals purchases made with your Discover card in connection with these promotions during valid promotion dates in addition to any other Cashback Bonus you will earn on that purchase. A qualifying purchase must be made within three hours of clicking the offer link. Cardmember will receive a confirmation e-mail 30 days from purchase date to confirm if purchases were eligible for Cashback Bonus. We are not responsible for merchant delays in processing transactions. Promotional reward will be applied within 8 weeks. Cashback Bonus is not eligible on returned items purchased through Discover Deals. These are subject to change, including termination without notice.
And from the FAQ:
Because Discover Deals are a result of a partnership between the merchant and Discover card, you will need to use your Discover card in order to take advantage of the offer.

?
They pulled the rewards presumably because OP used a non-Discover card. The Discover Deals page very plainly states you have to use a Discover card in order to get the rewards.
So why the pulled the rewards is not really questionable.

Lol it's a huge negative.. Not putting it here because I don't want to scare people or hear any one said holy $hit
Trouble is "huge" is a little subjective! My only concern is it was REALLY huge, say tens of thousands of dollars or more, in which case Discover might decide to go after your ill-gotten gains. Hopefully less huge than that
Just cashed out my rewards. I think I had a few Best Buy hit & runs over the past few months. :x
Yeesh, I know you're not supposed to try to be friends with your bank, but I find this stuff amazing. Like, Discover's an awesome company that provides a great card in the It. No AF, free FICO, 0% intro APR, 5% cash back categories, cash back portal, occasional free gift card, amazing customer service... and people treat them like this. Guessing you were using another card thru the portal then returning the stuff to rack up cashback, or something along those lines. Pretty lame to treat a company like this when they're so good to you. If it was a small local business that was being abused people would be up in arms but since it's a bank it's ok I guess.
This is why programs get nerfed, why better rewards programs aren't offered and why people get their accounts 'randomly shut down for no reason'. I know some people on this board feel they're entitled to everything the credit world has to offer but this is when it's taken too far. Don't want to start a fight here but I really wish people who did this would knock it off before the best cards get nerfed and we all suffer.

In the previous page, OP also stated that even if she used Discover, the item was on the "exception" list. Meaning, she may have had the rewards pulled because Discover realized she bought an "illegal" item.
Either way the terms are against her, I'm just curious as to what sparked the AA.

Yeah but then you can't double dip and what is the fun in that. Always redeem your rewards, people.Yeah you mean kinda like hit it and run?
oh well.. that doesn't work.. because now i have a negative balance on my rewards lol
I have been given the cash back for order cancellations
and simply did not do anything about it. So if Discover charges me back - fine - and I prefer it that way than account closure like some other banks would do. With ShopDiscover I have done this numerous times because of the low CL on my Discover card and used other cards with higher limits but now with a decent limit I decided to use Discover with their Discover Deals. But if they pay for order cancellations - so it be - I am too lazy to let them know...they should find their own way to control this issue in today's modern world. And as long as they do not provide a proper way to check the cash back I still have the excuse that their cash back pay out is not transparent . So I pretend innocent.
PS: AVS is my enemy as my address is in multiple versions in these systems and depending which one the merchants use it gets orders autocancelled ![]()
