so how come when i push payments from my bank to a credit card, the payment bank doesn't process them on saturdays, but does on sundays....?
whos the bank or CU? Some are slower than others. Pull is faster for me.
Many don't because both ACH transfers and billpay services close down for weekend's and holidays.
Computers don't really need a weekend off, I find the ACH transfer delay as BS
Have learned to just send ACH payments (Sunday --> Thursday).
Friday's and Saturday's even if shown as OK from an issuer's page, likely will
take an extra day to get where you need it.

Another problem is that each receiving institution
has shorter or longer times with updating a payments.

Pull vs Push and which Bank/CU is fastest is very hard say.
It dependent on both ends of the equation and ACH.
Example:
I push from Barclay's to CU-1 and CU-2, Sunday, same time and amount.
(Money was pushed from one of 7 daily ACH transfers, early Monday)
CU-1 post the money after 8:00 pm / Monday. (Same day it was sent)
CU-2 post the money Thursday.
(3 day's, CU-2 internal policy is the issue. not Barclay pushing it)
Same three Banks/Cu's (Real CU's/Barclay's and number of days)
Pull again Sun, transfer should pull first thing Monday ACH
CU-1 shows up Wednesday (3 day's)
CU-2 shows up Tuesday (2 day's)
Results faster to push to CU-1
Faster to pull from CU-2
If using CU-2 and the original push, you could conclude Barclay's is slow.
Very easy to point at an institution for praise or being slow with others getting
different results because of the second institution's policies.
Only real testing between "Your Institutions" will yield answers.
Push vs Pull ?
