Re: when is enough ENOUGH!!!

I have four on my long-term wishlist:

Delta CCU
BofA Amex
Amex Platinum
JFCU

I only plan on getting two this year.  Those two were going to be Delta CCU and BofA Amex, but I'm rethinking that plan.

The other two will wait until 2009 and 2010.

ETA: You did ask about limits, as well.  I think $200-250K sounds reasonable.  HHI is $150K.

Re: when is enough ENOUGH!!!

$150k-$250k sounds good to me. Makes keeping under 4% UTL so much easier. lol. Someone above said 8 BoA's. Not a good move. Try to spread your cards out between banks. If they decide to do someone to your credit it could effect all your accounts with them including CLD's especially if you are hunting a $500k CL. Smiley Wink

Of course this question was how high is enough. lol. I would gather however many "high achievers" do have around $100k in revolving credit. I thought people with great credit only had about $50k or so, I was surprised to see some people had triple digits on CLs automatically upped over the years of flawless credit. I would imagine income plays a heavy factor in that too.

Oh, I would want, lets see... $300k. Yep. Any more than that my score would drop. And getting that much credit and keeping it in revolving takes some effort too. Has to be a bunch of smaller credit lines under $50k. So I'd have all my credit lines between $40-$49k to prevent them from being classified as installments.

I misunderstood. I thought you wanted 8 from BoA. I see now you list 7 other and 1 for Boa. Perfect! I've always wanted a Wells Fargo since I had their little piggy bank as a kid but they seem to be lactose intolerant towards me. I doubt even with an 850 they would approve me. I've always wanted an Amex Green, love the color!

I'll play.
Amex Black (w/ no ann fee special)
Wells Fargo $49k
Boa $49k
Chase $49k
Citi $49k
Discover $49k
Wamu $49k

Re: when is enough ENOUGH!!!

I guess I gotta crawl before I walk however if I had it my way AMEX when my BK falls off and just about 50K in CLs would be ok with me w/ student paid off and a new car paid off Smiley Happy not seeking any biggies right now I know all that comes with time and patient--in just this year I have gotten to 10K in available credit so I cant complain prior to July 2007 I only had 1500 2 cards with 500 and a LOC with 500 --so I hav come a long way and very appreciative and still striving for my scores to get where I want them to be above 700---so until some aging occurs and some inquiries cal out and start to diminish from my mind set I have a while to go Smiley Happy  but know I am striving now maybe in many years to come I will want limits of 100k or more but now half of that would be very soothing

Re: when is enough ENOUGH!!!

I am getting penalized for having too many accounts reporting when this is only 2 CC's. I have found out the hard way that your scores (especially TU) look at the total number of accounts with balances, which includes your mortgages and other installment loans. (This is my particular bucket --it might not be true of where you are now.)

So right now, I see that for me, 8 total accounts, 3 of them installments, is not enough, because I can only have one CC reporting a balance. So I will add 2 accounts just to manipulate the math. Smiley Happyl
