30 day Validation

I received a letter from RJM Acquisitions LLC dated February 28, 2008 about an overdrawn account from WAMU for over 900 dollars. I have never had an account with WAMU. So the next day i sent in a certified letter stating validation of the debt owed. I received the signed green copy stating the letter was delivered March 10. Now, the 30 days has come and gone, and i have not heard anything from this company. I check my credit report every day to make sure they do not put this account on there. Since I have not heard anything, that means they can not validate the debt. So what is my next step, do i write another letter or just it be since I have my proof of that they received my debt validation letter. Since i have not heard anything from them, can they just place the account on my credit report?

Re: 30 day Validation

Just keep an eye on your credit report and keep all your evidence(copy of letter sent, CM label, Greencard, etc)

Keep a hard copy of all 3 CR showing the date and that they are NOT reporting.

If they place the account on your CR without validating, then they are in violation.

They do not have to validate, but they have to cease all collection activites, including reporting, if they do not validate.

Re: 30 day Validation

Based on the FDCPA, the CA can have as much time as they want to validate a debt. They are not limited to 30 days. However, the only contact they can have with you from the point they received your DV onwards is a DV result letter, for a lack of a better term. They cannot collect. They can't call. They cannot send you letters other than to send the results of the DV. And, IMO, they cannot report to your CR unless they validate.

As mentioned, save everything. Take pictures of your caller ID if they call. Save any VMs.

I would call WAMU to check with them about this debt. I would also pull Chexsystems.
