30 day late reporting

I have been in a dispute with the final payoff of my auto. My finance company said that I owed them $1001.66  after paying for 60 months. They told me if the balance was not payed by Nov. 19th I would be 30 day's late on the payment because it was due Oct. 19th and that was the end of the contract.
On Nov. 1, 2007 they reported me 30 days late. This lowered my FICO score 67 points.
Can they report me 30 days late when I wasn't and what can I do about this.
My score was 670 this has put me in a very bad position I need to refinance my current morgage in 2008

Re: 30 day late reporting

I would start by demanding a complete list of payments and balances through the life of the loan, clear from when the Earth cooled and the dinosaurs died. The loan company may be right...equally, they may have mis-computed something somewhere. It's all a question of hard numbers.

Agree with TNWM (well, minus the dinosaurs.) Also, the Nov 19 deadline --is that in writing anywhere, or was that just oral?

I would also try to find all of my payments that were sent in to do my own calculations. It is a lot of work but worth it to try and regain your 67 pts lost.
