Something is not right. Can you list your tl's with the type, cl's and balances and when they were opened. what about your inq's? do you know your FICO TU score also?

You can be denied for credit if you have too many new accounts and too many recent inq's. With what you just said I'm not surprised Amex denied you. You can try a reconn but I'm not sure it will help because an underwriter will probably do a manuel review and ask you difficult questions. You have some cc's use em wisely and pay on time. You will be fine over time.

A Citi card would be a good option. They pull EQ. Try for the Premier Pass card. Once you get it, convert to the Dividens Plat Select. I am guessing you will get a $5000+ CL with Citi.
