Last Friday, TU approved an EE (Early Exemption) of my (and my DW's) BK7 from 2012. It was so wonderful and uplifting to see our VS3 scores jump so high (can't get a TU Fico 8 score until tomorrow)!
So a strange thing happened today when signing into our CapOne accounts and hitting the Credit Wise update. Both of our credit histories now show older accounts on our TU reports than the prior week. So I check Credit Karma for a more detailed look, but my "daily" TU report didn't work today... but my DW's CK "daily" report did work.
She previously had no closed accounts on her report... nothing. Now she has 6 closed accounts, all of which are older than 13 years old giving a HUGE boost to her average age and age of oldest. Luckily, they all show $0 balance and no negatives. Some were IIB, but others had $0 when we filed BK7 (but had to be closed regardless due to the BK). After doing some digging, none of these accounts have been on her TU report for at least 2 years.
Is this normal to have old accounts reappear onto your credit report after a BK7 ages off?
Below is a screenshot of my DW's CK TU VS3 score chart... can't wait to see the TU Fico 8 scores tomorrow (hope I won't be disappointed by not seeing similar gains)! Her TU8 was around 750 a week ago... hoping for at least an 800!
Paging @Anonymous since I know you had your BK drop off somewhat recently. Wondering if you experienced anything similar?
TU Fico8 scores updated, and my DW gained 73 Fico's going from 749 to 822!
I didn't gain as many Fico's due to me allowing my Affinity card reporting a 40% UTI while trying to meet the SUB (as well as many new accounts)... my went from 745 to 772 which is a 27 point gain.
I now have 4 "new" closed accounts reporting since the EE. My AAoA went from 3y 11m to 6y 0m. My AoOA went from 12y 7m to 17y 9m.
My DW now has 6 "new" closed accounts reporting since the EE. Her AAoA went from 3y 4m to 6y 10m. her AoOA went from 8y 3m to 16y 8m.
All these newly added closed accounts show a Payment Status of "Unrated or bankruptcy". Some of these have last updates of Jan 2012 (when the BK7 was filed), but others show various dates all the way up to 2018 even though their closed dates were back in Jan 2012.
I didn't experience that nor have I ever heard about it happening before. All of my IIB items fell off some time early in my BK and never came back. That's very strange.
That is very odd to see old accounts reappear especially those closed during the chapter 7 bankruptcy. I would pull the actual report from annualcreditreport.com and see what that shows
Cap1's Creditwise is a Vantage thing. Not really reliable. You can get a peek at your EX Fico score for free at Discover Scorecard and its free for anyone. See what it says on there.
I did a 3 bureau pull from EX, and both of our TU reports have these new closed accounts. It actually helps our scores as long as the remarks aren't used in a credit decision. Just very odd and unexpected, and weird that both of our reports had the same thing happen.
It is strange how they popped back in. But being that old. There shouldnt be any negs (lates, ect) reporting on them. The age is helping you in a good way. Hope it sticks.
