Adding Accounts

Hello Everyone,

I would like to see if anyone can help me out with an answer to this question.  I have 7 accounts with Aarons Sales and Lease which are reporting to Experian.  These accounts are closed (paid) and were in good standing with credit history dating back to 2003 with no lates whatsoever.  My question is....if I were to get them added to my Equifax and Transunion credit reports would that boost my scores?  I did talk with Aarons ITT Department and the gentleman advised me that it would be no problem adding them if I want them to be. Thanks in advance for your input.

What are your 3 scores right now?

Would they improve your mix of credit or average  age?

Re: Adding Accounts

Oh, this is a very interesting question indeed. I have quite a bit of "good" credit items that are reported on 1 or 2 of the CRAs instead of all. I wonder what the proceedure for doing this is... if they they show more good credit history and increase your average age, I don't see how it can hurt!

Starting Score: 556
Current Score: 672, 681, 692
Goal Score: 700, 700, 700

Re: Adding Accounts

Dale..........the inference I am drawing from your question (please correct me if wrong) is that when the Aaron Sales and Lease accounts were active they were reporting ONLY to EX.

I doubt, but I may be wrong, that EQ and TU would now add an account that has been closed since 2003, especially if they didn't report them when they were open.

yes, you are correct....Aarons only reported to EX on all accounts.......however only 1 of the seven accounts is dated opened in 2003......all the others range from 2004 thru 2007.......i was hoping that they would add the accounts......and possibly increase my score's

Re: Adding Accounts

Wouldn't hurt to try. I don't wanna be a wet blanket, but I seriously doubt TU and/or EQ would do it. All 3 CRA's act independently of each other.

I think they will report if the OC tells them to report.
