AmEx CreditSecure

I signed up DH & I for CreditSecure on Amex last week.  I was hoping to start using the ability to pull daily credit reports, but it wouldn't allow me to do that because I'm still in the 30-day review period.

I called and asked a CSR about it.  I asked if I could skip the 30-day review period and just start paying.  She laughed and said unfortunately NOT.  There's nothing I can do except wait the ENTIRE 30 days before I can get updated reports.  But she did make sure to tell me that AFTER the 30-day review period, I can pull the reports as often as I like.

Crud.  18 days to go for DH.  Even longer for me since I didn't sign myself up right away.  Smiley Sad

Is it July 15 yet?

Why not signup for TrueCredit? It is what the majority of the members here use. You can start updating from day one.

Chase Sapphire Preferred $5000

I cancelled CreditSecure about the 2nd week of my 30 day free trial.  Even then, the cancellation didn't take effect until after the 30 day trial period officially ended.

You also can 'cheat' the system somewhat  on CS with your EX report by clicking the 'Dispute' link - that takes you to your full, current EX report.  No updated score, of course, but you can see what's posted and check for anything fishy turning up on your EX report.

I did that a few times during my 30-day trial period.  I was hesitant to do it TOO often in case doing so earned me some kind of red flag with CS or a fraud alert with EX, but if you're really wanting to check for stuff that's posted, that's an option.

Hope this helps.

Re: AmEx CreditSecure

Between TrueCredit and CreditSecure is there any benefit to having one over the other?  Any differences in what they offer?

Re: AmEx CreditSecure

Thanks Timothy and scapegrace for the "alternative methods".  I'll see what I can do with that information.

Now that you mention it, I did do a dispute on DH's report the day after we got it because I noticed he that there was a derog TL for his mom's CC that he was recently added as an AU on.  TU deleted the TL in about a day and I was able to see an updated report for him right away.

Re: AmEx CreditSecure

IMO- The only bad thing about CS is not having the reported dates.

For me- this out weighs the waiting 24 hours plus 1 minute for TC.
As with CS you can update every day without having to wait 24 hrs.

Re: AmEx CreditSecure

Thanks for the info Timothy.  I think that 24 hr and 1 minute waiting period would drive me mad.

For me, the CS scores are VERY close to my real scores as well
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
