Nobody there could explain why and just knocked down my credit score 52 points. It was a charged off account from 2020. WTH?
Anybody have any suggestions? I was going for a car loan and that's down the drain now.
Did you by chance dispute this account recently?
Yep.
I just talked to FICO customer service and they told me that probably triggered the update on all three reports. I guess I should have left alone.
Any suggestions?
Yes not much you can do now.
Don't dispute unless the following applies
Transunion. 6 mo within fall off date
Experian. 3 mo within fall off date
Equifax. Don't dispute!!!
Ok, thanks for the help.
Any chance my score goes back up in a couple of months to pre-dispute levels or is that dreaming?
It will increase as you accumulate time from when those CO we're updated.
Why did you dispute it? Were you just hoping to get lucky. If it was from 2020 it can remain for 7 years, and might have been dormant but now that you disputed it the updated it. It will take a while for your scores to move back up. Unfortunately hard lesson to learn .
How would someone know that would happen?? I've disputed things in the past without a refresh.

Unfortunately disputing legitimate accounts can result in a refresh .
@Timbo12Dispute is for inaccurate entries. Not rolling the dice to try and get something removed. Epecially a 4 yr old charge off. Dont poke the bear.
