To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing a letter about my experience with ### and a request concerning a $### Collection in my credit files that I would like to have revised.
I opened my account in December 2001, and in January 2002 I was sent overseas for my job for several months. I returned to Louisiana in April 2002 whereupon I was immediately sent offshore during the months of May, June and July. During the month of July, I found out that my entire department was being moved over to ####, LA. Also, the turn around time from the announcement to when we were supposed to be in place was less than 5 weeks. During the transition, as an engineer, I was responsible for implementing the relocation of our inventory, relocation of our office equipment, and installation of the all this material into our facility in ####. All this needed to be done on a strict timeline, while at the same time I was supposed to relocate myself and also find a place to live. During this move, I became disorganized with respect to, as you saw, making timely payments and properly closing out my account. I fully recognize my responsibility with respect to payable accounts and have worked diligently to rehabilitate my relationship with other creditors since that time.
To be honest, this experience has been a "wake-up" call for me regarding fiscal organization. Since then I believe I have learned the essential organizational and financial management principles I desperately needed at that point. Thankfully, responsible credit management is now reflected in my credit records which -- excluding the collection -- are excellent. I wish to ask for you to allow me learn from my mistakes while not being overly penalized in the future.
I am about to shop for a mortgage, and it has come to my attention that the collection notice from ### may preclude me from taking full advantage of the very lowest interest rates now available. Since those notations do not reflect my current status with ####, I am requesting that you give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by deleting the collection. After several calls to your customer service department, it is my understanding that it is your policy not to remove collections from a credit report. I sincerely hope that there is redemption at LUS, and I beg you for such consideration. Please let me know if any additional documentation would assist in reaching a positive outcome, and I thank you again for the time you have spent reading this letter. Please feel free to contact me by phone at: ###-###-#### or by email at: ##########.
Very hopefully yours,
They normally will reply back to your letter, but I would wait several days to contact them. Don't want to seem to pushy!!
