Any suggestions??

A couple of years ago (prior to finding this board) I paid some CA’s for less than full amount on a few CC’s. The CA’s don’t show up on any of my reports but the OC’s are reporting charge off – settled for less than full amount.

Has anyone had any success contacting the OC’s and offering to pay the difference between the charge off amount and amount settled in order to get them to change the status to paid as agreed?

If so, is there any specific language I should include (or not include) in my letter to them?

Re: Any suggestions??

The acount is settled 100% if it states settled for less than full amount, you
owe nothing on those, I am in the same boat on numerous accounts so you
have to send GW letters wich I am starting to do also and hope they remove them
also look to see when they come off your report some of mine will be off next march
so I will send gw letters and wait if I have to..

I was kinda hoping that offering to settle the account "in full" would pursuade a few of them to take the ding off my report - just not quite sure how to word it.

I think a GW lette is your best option. Unless it is AMEX and you want another card with them. The company has already taken if off that books as a bad debt expense and does not wan the hassle of reclassifying it.
