In January I applied for a loan reconsolidation, and I was denied. They pulled EQ, and I'm sure all of my scores were below 650. That denial is what inspired me to take control of my credit file. I got on the ball and removed a derog from EX, two from TU, and removed a CC that was transferred to a new account but still reporting a balance from EQ/CSC. I have also been pre-paying to keep my util around 1-5%.
The result is that my scores are way up, of course. I finally received the re-investigation results from CSC for the incorrect CC. In it, it states:
Please note: If the re-investigation results in changing or deleting the information, you may request an updated credit report be sent to any credit grantor that received your credit report in the past six months (twelve months for New York and Maryland) and/or any company which received your credit report in the last two years for employment purposes.
Does that basically mean that I can have CSC/EQ contact the lendor (Education Finance Partners), and EFP may reconsider my application without me having to re-apply and take another hard inquiry?
The letter doesn't say who I should contact or how to have this done, only that I have a right to do it. Who should I contact and how (CSC or EQ, call, certified mail, or fax?) to get this rolling if I should take this course of action?
I'm not sure that EFP requested my 'credit report' as the letter states, as they most likely just pulled my score...so I'm not even sure if this applies.
Thanks for any help!
