Arrow Financial Collections- HELP!!!!!

I will try and make this as "simple" as possible.  I had recently been looking over my credit report, and I see "Arrow Financial Collections" on all 3 reports (saying the original creditor is AFS Assignee of GE Money Bank) and I really had no idea who either were.  I have no idea who GE Money Bank is which is who was listed as the original creditor and as I am talking to my mother about it she claims "Oh, I paid them because they were going to sue you" Huh?

They sent a letter to my MOTHER's address where I haven't lived in 10 years saying they were going to sue me. The letter is dated for 10/31/07 and the envelope is postmarked 11/15/07.
My mother wrote out a check and paid them. I don't even know if this debt is valid! I just found out about this....do I have any recourse?

I mean my mother wrote the check not me...is this something I can take to the AG? I just told her the debt may not be mine and she burst into tears. I feel awful.

Re: Arrow Financial Collections- HELP!!!!!

You might need an attorney  BUT  I would send arrow a letter in your moms name.......Stating that she paid $xxxx on an account that was not hers and was meant for another company. I mean with her eyesight & all ( I am a mom & it is what I would use)  I did not know this person & mixed the bill up with my letter that I was sending to you stating this. Instead I mailed the letter to someone else.

I will expect a check for the full amount returned to me. Please do not make me have my attorney get into this. I feel like a bad enough fool as it is.

Thank you,
Mrs DA DA DA

Arrow is a nasty CA      NEVER admit that she knew that it was her son that she thought she was helping.

Re: Arrow Financial Collections- HELP!!!!!

I'm her daughter actually.....Smiley Very Happy
Thank you for the advise, after really looking into this the best I could I think this debt is valid. It was a "Sleepy's card" I opened and didn't finish paying. GE Money Bank is who Sleepy's gave me the card through, and they sold it to Arrow. This w
What a mess, now I have them both on my report.....Arrow and Sleepy's...totally my fault.

At least my mother feels better and that was super sweet of her. She knows I have a lot on my plate financially and really just was doing it out of love. I wish I had known though so I could have sent a PFD letter, but I guess it is to late now. It's a shame too, according to Transunion this would have dropped off my account at the end of this month because of the SOL.

keep in mind that nothing drops from CR  with SOL.....SOL is set by each state......nothing drops from CR  until CRTP  7- 7.5 years for baddies and 10 years from closed goodies.

Re: Arrow Financial Collections- HELP!!!!!

I have Arrow after me also. I dv and pfd them, have never heard back from them. On my cr they show update as 1-08, bought 2006. The oc says closed 2004. Can I tell Arrow they have to use the old date. Or what should I do. They make it sound like its a new account, but orginal oc closed 2004

Whatever you do be careful, it is apparent they are very slimy with their tactics. My court date letter was dated 10/11, then notarized on 10/15...but not postmarked until 11/15....how was I suppossed to show up if I had decided to defend myself?
