Re: Bank of America Credit Monitoring

I use credit expert from Experian.  I can pull anytime I want to.  If you just want to see your entire updated reports.  If you want fico score this is not for you.  EX has a few plans you should check into.  They are real Fico.

Okay, wow, I just learned from you: that if I were to order scores/reports directly from TU and EX, they would be Fako scores.  Is there a reason that you did not include EQ as a Fako too or do EQ scores match more closely to true Fico scores?  I've ordered directly from all 3 agencies in the past- maybe not the best thing to do.  I also recently ordered from MyFico.... which I will continue to do periodically, especially after hearing this news.  Thanks for your info!!
EQ will actually sell you your EQ FICO score. Just be sure to read through carefully.

TransUnion will also sell you your TU FICO, but in a very roundabout way. You have to go to www. transunioncs.com.

Re: Bank of America Credit Monitoring

The bottom line is that BofA's service is decent, but you can do better, using TC or one of the other services recommended in this thread.

Now if BofA could get you your bankcard-tricked FICO rather than FAKO, the service would be more valuable.

Re: Bank of America Credit Monitoring

I would not call this service decent. 4 reports a year and FACO scores for $13/ mos is way too much.

Re: Bank of America Credit Monitoring

I have used B of A Privacy Assist for the past few months, I like it.  I love the 3 report profile.

Is any one better then the other??  Same info right???

Re: Bank of America Credit Monitoring

I'm eating my words.  Perhaps B of A wasn't the best choice from what I have learned on this site the past few days.  I'm still confused by FICO vs FAKO.  Why would we be given fake scores?  How do I know if what I am given is real?

Also, on this B of A Privacy Assist, the 3 scores given by all 3 CRA vary significantly.

I'm so confused!!

Because the only scores that matter are those produced by the FICO scoring formula. The simplest way to get FICO scores is through the myFICO site.

Not to be dreadfully cynical, but the overwhelming majority of Americans who know anything at all about credit know only that they have some sort of "credit score" somewhere, and it's important. So if they are also interesting in identity theft protection, report monitoring, etc., sites that provide these services have also found that they can sell a "credit score" as well and make some extra bucks. Smiley Indifferent These scores aren't created by the FICO formula, so even though they are sometimes close to the real thing, they're not, which is why we call them FAKO's instead.

Please read the first post of Credit Scoring 101 for more explanation.
