Bank of America - is it click bait? 10 years with them and never heard a peep.

When I log in and out of my BofA checking account I keep getting all of these "special offers" the past 2 days and this has NEVER happened before. I've been a client for 10 years. My credit has sat dormant with 4 small baddies since 2018 and now that I've opened a few accounts and paid off one CO it seems to have woke the beast within BofA. I don't know if I want the inquiry but I've been thinking of trying either US Bank, TD Bank or BofA down the road for CB cards when my scores are higher. I see so many posts on here about even the heavy hitters in the 750+ tier being denied by BofA. But this "offer" puzzles me because I've logged in for years and never seen this let alone a 2nd one pops up after I log out in the form of a splash screen with some sort of code at the bottom.

Here are a few pics. I am highly amused because even the dog knows I won't get approved with a 600 FICO no matter the fact I have had a solid banking relationship with them for a decade, they have always been very good to me.

This click bait could change my entire outlook though if I pulled the trigger and they denied me even for a secured after 10 years with them. No BK, no ChexSystems issues. Just a few small baddies from 5 yrs ago.

Oh Bank of America how I do love your cardless ATM withdrawals etc etc but to tease someone like this! SMH.

This is not a pre-approval; it's not even a prequalification.   It's just 100% pure advertising.   The number is a nice touch though.  I would not waste the HP.

@CH-7-Mission-Accomplished Oh I'm not taking the bait. I wanted to share for other members to take note regardless of their banking relationship with them this is what the offers look like but don't seem like a legit offer. @Horseshoez and @Guyatthebeach have just recently interacted in comments with me about BOA's secured card and then interestingly enough I get these. This morning I also got an email from them saying did I forget to apply. Deleted it. It says the offer may not be available in-branch but I was going to go see about one anyway for maybe the $99/500. Undecided. I'm stingy about my hard pulls. I've had none for 5 years and now I have the famous x3 for Cap1 and one for NFCU and PPC (both on TU). No denials yet so to get one from my own FI would brush me the wrong way on top of wasting a HP. 🫣

@butterpecan, keep in mind, the three pulls from CapOne really only count as one pull for the purposes of applying to the likes of Chase which has a 5/24 rule.  Yes, you got three hard pulls, but it was one pull per credit bureau, and the vast majority of lenders only check one of the three when you apply for credit, so the three CapOne pulls will only show up as one.

  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Butterpecan,

Even though, that is just a marketing ploy, I would still go inside branch and inquire about this.

You never know because you have banked for years. They could pleasantly surprise you. Just remember if it's approved, it maybe a low CL with a high APR.  Nevertheless, it could be another worthwhile opportunity to improve your credit.

let us know the outcome.

@Guyatthebeach I will. I planned on visiting the branch to consult with them about it at the startup of my rebuild 2 months ago. I will update for sure. Thank you. 😊

@Horseshoez Along with the inquiry boundaries for Chase, what do you know about the new accounts limit boundaries

I have an interest in what those are for TD Bank, US Bank and BOA to be honest so I am searching the threads. Oh by the way,

I see you added a new card to your signature. Congrats! Chase Freedom. Nice.

Regarding those banks:

  • TD Bank: I don't think they have hard and fast rule regarding inquiries
  • US Bank: No clue, I've never researched them
  • BofA: From what I've read, they are hit and miss (clearly I was not a hit), as such, their acceptance criteria is a bit of an mystery

Regarding my Chase card, it is a Chase Sapphire Preferred (aka. CSP).  Smiley Happy
