Re: Eddie Fraud Alert

When you put a fraud alert on @ any credit bureau
the other 2 are automatically notified....and the fraud alert is on all three credit bureaus

Re: Berks problem.

Is there anything you are not telling us?    Did you try to dispute as a "Not Mine" in hopes that since it was paid so long ago the CA wouldn't respond in hopes that it would have to fall off?    This is very common.

Re: Berks problem.

Hey Eddie
yes Hey Berks was to you lol
That sounds like a total fiasco....Since you paid in 2004/2005
why the hell does it show up as a collection.....
did you close the account?
One time I had an account......that I said I no longer wanted. I paid "in full" the balance
But I didn't verify that they had closed the account for me.
Subsequently when the time came for them to charge the annual membership fee that was charged. I never paid it and it went past one cycle but not past the 30 days...so.....I didn't get it reported to the credit bureau the only thing that notified me of the change was good ol SCOREWATCH from equifax.....
when i saw a balance on the account I immediately called of course for me I had to make my deal with them...and by that time they charged a late fee. however my negotiation skills are great I got to pay only a small portion and took it as a lesson learned. This is like the second time I had to make sure that when I closed an account they literally closed it.......FYI it wasn't a long standing account only an account less than 2 years with a 500 credit line.......I wonder if that is what happened to you.

Re: Berks problem.

It was an old medical bill. It showed as a paid collection since it was paid. The hospital never showed up on my reports. Never showed up as an open account.

I have no clue why they would go and change it to October 2007 and I can't seem to get help deleting it. Waiting on the MOV to see if Experian does anything.

Berks doesn't answer you, won't give answers, it's one of the worst operations I've ever seen.

At this point I'm ready to give in and just accept another 7 years of ruined credit.

I must have done something to trigger them waking up...and they do have my signature which isn't good. Not sure what to do anymore...fought for 3 years to get to this point and now it seems like it's all ruined.

Re: Eddie Fraud Alert

I didn't ask for the fraud alert, they just did it and I'm not sure why.

To answer the other question, I did not do a "not mine" but even if I did, that doesn't mean change the date. It should just be verified right? Or so they say...

I must have done something but not sure what. I know I did send goodwill letters the past 3 months to try to get it deleted. Think I'm up[ to number 4 but I'm done with that since even the CEO doesn't respond or have his secretary respond.

Re: Eddie Fraud Alert

Well, one fun fact that everyone here should learn and ponder is that the credit bureaus sell the info on those of us whose scores are improving to collection agencies, who then can look for names that are on their records.

Presumably they figure that if we are actively working to improve our credit, we will be more willing to pay them.

Just in case anyone forgot that we are NOT the credit bureaus customers --the lenders and the collections agencies are! Smiley Mad

Re: Eddie Fraud Alert

What about those of us who already paid in full? My score did go from 550 to 700 in the past year...could be another explanation.

Re: Eddie Fraud Alert

Well, since so many CA's don't care whether they're collecting on a valid debt or not, I can easily imagine them shaking the tree to see if there is any ripe fruit that might fall down. I can't count the number of posts I've read where people say that they don't owe anything, it has all been paid, but they are so worn out that they would pay again if it would just go away.

Re: Berks problem.

Hey Eddie..
Im good at this stuff....I love credit anything.....I've been back and forth with credit bureaus for over 14 years .
I noticed the information you gave got more detailed and more detailed as we hurled questions to you..Thank you for the info...it changed how we approached what the potential problem is........
fraud alert....did you call the automated experian, equifax or transunion....to talk to them about your problem..?...
even if you said this is not yours a fraud alert will not just automatically show up you have to alert the bureaus of the problem. You can place a fraud alert via the phone via automated system so if you received a credit report in the mail it should have stated that....never the less nothing should have been reported on your account as a fraud alert without your permission that is near impossible unless someone has your information to do it for you...and that is unusual....identity theft not impossible.......reporting fraud alert for someone else...unlikely.....
One thing I have learned is NEVER wake up the GIANT..
sometimes bills lay dormant meaning that sometimes one bill that is past due reports only to one credit bureau..but when you call and check on it to perhaps say this date is incorrect what the hell... shabaam...its on all three where it may only be one one... so selectively take on your creditors especially when the news is bad....when you are 100 percent right..you go to the fight regardless.
in this case I see that....it is a collection according to you and it is  paid.
If you paid in 2004/2005 then add 7 years to that....but....usually you may not have to wait to full seven........so if you call to complain about october 2007 vs 2004/2005 when it is well within the 7 years....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the bottom line is make sure that it shows no balance...
the date you can dispute.......but...........since you have the reciept..just xerox it 4 times send 3 to the credit bureaus...and then one to the collection agency so that they will update the account...as paid and place the correct date.
Hope this helps Eddie..
don't put that ski mask on................lol...

Re: Berks problem.

I said Experian put out the alert on there the first time you know Smiley Happy

I only noticed it because it popped up on Truecredit as a consumer statement on Equifax. I sent the letter to Equifax and it was gone in a week but I called to find out how it happened and they said Experian alerted them and when one has an alert then they alert the other two.

And since I can't get anyone at Experian on the phone, don't know how it got there. Sent them a letter that I'm sure they didn't like.

Send a copy of the receipt to the 3 bureaus and Berks? Nooooooooooooooooo...not sending it to the 2 who deleted the account. And why would I send it to Berks to have it "updated"? I want it gone at this point not "updated". I've been punished long enough. If I was receiving the bills then I would have paid it without Berks even being involved. I am losing any chance at business credit that I had thanks to this. It's hard enough with 7 year old chargeoffs...

I sent Experian the copy of the old report and they did nothing. I disputed it as inaccurate and they ignored me.

Very close to time to smack someone around, I'll have to fly to Texas and find Experian Parkway...might be hot down there in a ski mask though...
