Bit of a Dilemma

Hello There,

I am new to the forum. I have been trying to get financed for a boat loan. I have about 6 months of credit history that is all positive, a 740 fico (according to MyFico) and 10,000 to put down on a 20,000 boat. The dealer has been telling me that they cannot generate a score for me and are having trouble with the loan because I don't have a score. Yet everywhere I have ran my credit online it generates a score including this website. While it is true my history is limited, can anybody tell me why I am not generating a score at the dealership?

I also have a single 8 year old positive trade that is paid in full and still actively open on my credit file but no auto loan on my history. Do you think the fact that I never had an auto loan is weighing in on me not having a score?

Thank you

Re: Bit of a Dilemma

It's weird they can't pull a score.  To get a FICO score you have to have six months of history.  With an eight year tradeline that shouldn't be a problem.  Issue could be the loan didn't report to all three CRA's and the dealership is pulling one it didn't so it doesn't have a history and hence no score.  When you are online getting scores they aren't FICO's unless you are getting them here and mean nothing.  My suggestion is see if you can pull your equifax score here.  If you can you shouldn't have a problem.  If your not having any luck with the dealership try the bank you do business with or even better a local credit union.

Perhaps they will accept a copy of the report/score that you pulled?
