I'll try to be brief. I paid Conns in November. I have the reciept of payment, a copy of the contract marked "paid in full", and a copy of the check I used to pay them. They know all of this. It is documented. They charged off the account with all three bureaus. They repopened the account with two of the bureaus in December and have reported it 180 days late all they way until March (present). They will not give me a direct answer. I am getting zero competent employers to take care of this. I have an "account specialist" with them who seems confused all the time. They tell me they will call me back but won't. My score has dropped 60 points because of this. I've sent letters to the bureau and to Conns. I feel incredibly stuck. What can I do? Thank you!
I would file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and attach your documentation.
You state that you have sent letters to both the creditor and the CRAs.
Were they formal disputes, or where they only informal communications?
The FCRA requires that a consumer first file a formal dispute with the CRA contesting the accuracy of reported information before they can file a civil complaint. See FCRA 623(c).
Your first step should be to file a formal dispute under FCRA 611 with each CRA. That sets in motion the dispute process, which requires the CRA to forward a copy of your dispute to the creditor, the creditor to conduct a reasonable investigation of the accuracy and respond back to the CRA, and for the CRA to then conclude reinvestigation of the dispute within 30 days of its filing.
If the accuracy is verified, you then have the right to bring civil action and get the matter resolved by the courts.
Did this ever get resolved? If not, I may be able to help and no I'm not in the credit repair business.

Its is currently around 900. A big difference . They have some issues. I messaged them to correct.
