Re: Chexsystems?

Perhaps different bank branches have different practices?

Does ordering a chexsystems report have any affect on FICO scores or credit reports at all?

No.  You'd be exercising your Federal right to get a copy of your "consumer report."  Credit reports are one type of consumer report and so are reports from ChexSystems.

Okay.  I had no idea.  When I heard of ChexSystems (on this board) I was reluctant to request my report because I wasn't sure if it would be an inquiry on my credit report or what (and I didn't want that) - I mean, I had never heard of them before nor knew their role and I was new to this board and didn't know as much about credit.

Thank you for your response.

Re: Chexsystems?

I had a business account with a credit union and did not close my account after closing my business. Unfortunately, my old merchant account DID NOT close my account as requested and continued to submit payment request. This caused my account become overdrawn and the unfortunate fees. I moved from another state, so i did not care about the account nor did I keep track of it (business credit union). One day I went to WAMU to open a checkings account 2 years later and they stated I was in check systems via my SSN. I told them that was impossible, however, I found out the credit union sent my business account to chexsystems with my SSN, since I was an officer. The business was Incorporated, which means it had it own identity and I do not believe they should have used my SSN, but they should have used the EIN (employement identification number) for the business. Since the company was incororated, if a client wanted to sue me, he or she could not do so legally, however they could sue the business and the officers would be reponsible for any losses, if applicable. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Can the credit union legally report my SSN instead of the EIN if the company was incorporated?

WAMU uses chexsystem to open accounts!
BOFA doesn't!

Wrong. My roommate is on Chexsystems and he got a Wamu checking account. He owes three different banks money. National City, US Bank, and Fifth Third. That should prove that since he got a Wamu checking, they don't check Chexsystems. And I think Bofa checks for credit for some reason... :-/
