Collections question

I had a paid collection that was due to fall off 07/2008 on all three credit reports.  It fell off of Experian and Equifax and the beginning of the month.  However, it is still on Tranunion.  Do items typically fall of of Transunion later in the month?  If it is still there in August, do I need to dispute it?  Thanks!

Re: Collections question

Transunion typically is the last of all three to update. If it's still there next month you can dispute it as too old. That should take care of it.

Re: Collections question

Each CRA actually have to the end of the month it is due to be deleted in to remove it. Sometimes they will remove it early.

Re: Collections question

How can you tell when something is due to be deleted?  Is it just based on the SOL?  Or is there something on my credit report that should indicate when it will drop off?

They say if you pull your CR directly from each CRA, you will find a date of deletion. I have only been able to find these dates on TU. The catch with that, is you have to initiate an online dispute and view your CR from there. HTH. Also the dates on TU should be the same for the others, but I have noticed a 3 month difference with TU and EX. I have no idea why. Unless the derogs where reported 3 months apart, but that should make no sense. I have 7 collections, and CO from the OC falling off in the next 14 months, so Im not going to push my luck with these guys. Im waiting as patiently as I can. I was wrong for what I did, but those where different times.

Re: Collections question

You do not have to actually dispute anything. I go to the dispute online, it gives me a different CR with much more info. I print it, then logout.

I have never received a CR from the CRA thatgave me all the information without doing it this way.

SOL has nothing to do with how long an item stays on your CR. SOL goes by state and determines how long they have to sue. Items drop off your report 7 - 7.5 years from DOFD .
