Hello,
Does anyone know how you can remove an old Consumer Statement from your credit file? I need to remove any references to my oldChapter 13 BK which is now cleared from all my files.... It fell off in April 2010.....
I think you can use the online dispute system to remove those...

Which report is this statement on?
On EQ and TU....
I've never had a BK, so I'm not sure where you would have added the statement. I know under other tradelines you can add things. I added a stament years ago & when the baddie dropped, so did my statement.
Was your statement added at the end of the BK notation? Then the BK was dropped, but your statement remained?
You might want to call them both & talk to someone about the process you need to take to remove it.
I think there's an opportunity for consumers to add a general statement to their credit report. The difficulty lies in it staying on longer than the issue the statement addresses, as has happened to the OP.
OP - have you addressed this directly with the CRA? Not having dealt with personal statements, my knee jerk would be to do it in writing.
Congrats, btw, on your BK falling off! Woop-woop!
Disputing the consumer comment can get it removed. I added a comment some years back because of an erroneous charge off that I couldn't get removed, so I wanted an explanation that it really wasn't my account. When I added the comment, I was told that it couldn't be removed, and would remain for seven years (I think). The comment wasn't attached specifically to the CR entry - it was a general statement on my report.
Then, of course, I managed to get the CO permanently removed. But the comment was still there, referring to something that no longer appeared on my credit report. It wasn't until recently that I discovered that filing a dispute could get it removed (this was on EQ only, BTW).
Thanks to all for your advice and input... I will dispute with the CRAs to get the statement removed. The statement was on long before my BK had fallen off.
