Credit One Weekly Emails

Here is a different sort of Credit One problem.

In 2015, for a period of 5 months I had a Credit One card.  I cancelled it "succesfully", and early.  It shows as closed on CRs,  last updated 2015.

To this day, I still get an email from Credit One every week, telling me my balance is 0, and I have had no activity for the week.  It even references last 4# of the closed card.  The email contains a link to sign in to the online account, and although it is from a valid sender, I of course have never clicked it.  It also includes this:

You are receiving this email because you are a Credit One Bank card member.
If you do not wish to receive this particular notification in the future,
please click here. You may sign in to your account online to manage settings
for all of your Account Notifications.

I am loath to click what probably simply amounts to an unsubscribe link.  Instead this fake account status spam gets delivered, weekly, to my junk folder where I only see it if I decide to travel down that rabbit hole.

1) Does everyone that cancels Credit One still get the weekly balance email until infinity?

2) Should I just click the stupid unsubscribe link?

Re: Credit One Weekly Emails

I would first verify that it is in fact from credit one and not some phishing exercise and if it is just unsubscribe from it.

Re: Credit One Weekly Emails

As I said above, it is certainly from Credit One, and not a phishing attempt from another party.

I am curious if anyone else received weekly emails after cancelling the card.

Re: Credit One Weekly Emails

Yes I closed my cards with them recently and yes they still email me. You still have an account with them, it's just closed. They will send you emails forever until you unsub.

It gets better.  I hit the unsub button earlier today, and got a 404 - not found error.

Awesome.

Re: Credit One Weekly Emails

The worst part is they have shared your personal info to other crappy companies and your getting calls, mails and emails about other nonsense if you haven't already!

Re: Credit One Weekly Emails

The card was cancelled over 4 years ago - those ships sailed long ago.
