question about Equifax

Hello:

I am new here and have a question about Equifax FICO credit score. Do you know where I can get a free score? I have scores from TU and Ex but want to see how those scores compare to EQ. Thanks in advance.

Re: question about Equifax

Equifax does not make its FICO scores readily available to consumers so its very difficult to find a source without paying a subscription fee (MyFICO or CreditCheckTotal/Experian CreditWorks).  Some credit unions provide an Equifax score but its usually not the basic FICO 8 score so it can't be easily compared.  DCU provides Equifax FICO 5 score, and Navy Federal and PenFed provide Equifax FICO 9 scores.  Obviously you'd need to be a member of these credit unions to be able to access these scores.

Re: question about Equifax

I'm not sure about a free FICO score for Equifax, but for $1.00 trial, you can use Experian Credit Works to get your three bureau FICO scores.

Re: question about Equifax

It seems Equifax enjoys making life difficult and considering their overall status in the credit world ... not surprising! Trying to work with them is difficult and you may pick that up reading around on them.

Re: question about Equifax

It is pretty hard to get a free EQ FICO 8 - one of my CUs does it, but only if you have a loan through them (alas, their auto rates weren't better than my non-EQ providing CU Smiley LOL )

Re: question about Equifax

Even Equifax's premium monitoring service for $19.95/mo., EQ Complete Premier, doesn't give you any flavor of a Fico score, it's a score of their own making. My EQ Complete Premier score is 735 while my TU Fico8 score is 731,  so EQ's scoring seems to be a few points higher than Fico8.

But, the price was right, for me anyway. Smiley LOL I was in the midst of a 1 month trial of Complete Premier for $4.95 when they went public with the data breach back in 2017, and they've continued the service for free ever since. And about a year ago Equifax actually gave me free IDnotify service for Experian that lets me lock & unlock EX, so I was able to cancel my $9.95/mo. EX IdentityWorks service. You're special with Equifax if you were paying for their service when they fessed up to letting someone have even better access to your personal info for free. Smiley Frustrated
