Credit application with husband's name and my info..🤦 NOT ON PURPOSE.

Anyone had something like this happen?
The weirdest, most annoying thing happened today...
So I receive a pre approval in the mail for a MasterCard.
I go online to apply. The only parts of the application that were autofilled were my address and phone number. So I go about filling in the rest of the info. Didn't autofill anything.
It asked for a second number so I put in my husband's.
Social, birthday etc was all my info.
Get to the end and submit.

Instant denial addressed to MY HUSBAND.
reason was there was no credit file.

I call them completely confused. My name wasn't in their system but my info was under my husband's name.
Apparently my phone changed my name to his when I manually put in his phone number as the second number, didn't notice bc I had no reason to scroll back up 🤦

After talking with her supervisor, cause she was stumped, she said I'm sorry there's nothing we can do but you're welcome to reapply in 60 days.

Does he have a savings account, checking account, or anything like that with that bank or CU?  I am guessing that your husband has no credit cards of any kind since he has no file with the credit bureau.

Oh, he has them, and no he's never had an account with them..

My phone changed it to his name in the app bc I put in his number as a second number. I entered it manually and didn't autofill it so something like this wouldn't happen, and chrome decided I guess with my social and date of birth and everything my info it needed his name bc I manually entered his number.

So your phone auto filled some info that you did not want. I hadn't heard of this happening to someone before, at least not for an application. I personally rarely use my phone for anything secure like that. Just my preference. But usually there is a setting within the phone you can adjust to keep it from auto-filling info.

Yup.  If I am understanding everything right, this is just a credit card version of what people post all the time about on Facebook (basically "Auto Correct Fails").  ACFs seem to happen most often on phones.  My favorite ACFs are ones that involve sons saying appallingly racy things to their mothers.  I'd give you a link except I think that it would be a violation of the TOS here on the forums.  :-)

That's why I do use auto fill when filling out applications, my phone changed the name, not auto filled it lol I had already manually put in my name and info. That's why I manually put in his number, so autofill wouldn't change any info 🤦

Sometimes when your browers recognizes the info you are manually entering it will match that up with saved information and if you hit enter when you are done it autofills what you have saved.   To avoid that you need to not hit enter and either tab out of the field or click somewhere else on the screen.
