Credit inquiry without permission

I just received notification from Myfico regarding a new inquiry from Sprint.  The issue is that I did not request such inquiry.  I'm afraid someone is trying to get a cell phone under my name.  How can I stop companies from accessing my credit without my permission?

I'll really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,

Re: Credit inquiry without permission

You would need to put a freeze on each of the CRAs.

Yes, go to each site and there is a place for freezes.  I can not remember if they charge but for fraud I think it is free.

Re: Credit inquiry without permission

Also contact Sprint and let them know about this, as you may be correct about fraud.

It happened to me with AT&T a few years ago.

Sprint may also be able to remove that inq or at least get it recoded to a soft for you, if there was a fraudulent attempt to use your info to open a new account or purchase something with them.

Good luck.

Re: Credit inquiry without permission

If I was running I forbid credit inquires for non-prepaid Services, the risk nothing like an installment loan where your give money upfront or credit card/line of credit you can run a balance. you actualy have to USE the service, and if you  don't pay, all they have to is cut you off ATT does inquires only DSL only service which is prepaid, I'm thinking going that route, and I will put up a stink
