DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
I was approved for a DCU credit card when I got my auto loan in October (same pull). I let it report a substancial balance of 89% last month. I lost about 17 points by doing that. No big deal then because I wasn't looking for new credit. I have a card I want to reply for so I've been waiting to report the zero balance from when I statement closed on the 12th. It's been over 2 weeks. All of my other cards post within days.

Re: DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
This has been a sporadic issue with them for the last couple of years.

Re: DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
I called DCU to ask about this today. The person I spoke with told me they report every 30 days. My statement closed on 2/12. It still hasn't reported to the CBs I tried to get her to spell out when they report in relation to my account. Again, she told me they report every 30 days. So I asked if the statement balance from February will be reported this month. She said yes. I just checked to see when DCU last reported. It was January 30th. March 2nd would have been 30 days after that. I don't know... I guess they report when they report. This card would be getting much luv.

Re: DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
It would be a challange to force the issue as while there is the legal requirement that their reports to the CRAs be accurate there isn't a related one that requires them to report and I'm sure it doesn't help right now that they're in the midst of a merger. If you're annoyed enough you can think about sending a letter addressed to the Board of Directors.

It's been a week so I just gave them another call. The person I spoke to put me on hold and contacted another department. She told me the info from my statement the closed the beginning of February has't been sent to the CBs yet. The gist of what she said is info that is to be sent to the CBs is collected and sent to a department that handles that. They do there thing then send it off. That can take 30 days but somethings longer. And then the time it takes for the CBs to report. I pointed out that most of my cards update the CBs within days of the statements closing. I also added all banks are different. From here I know to not let high balances report because it could take a couple of months for the CBs to be updated after they are paid off.

Re: DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
A little update on this... I just noticed my utilization is reporting lower than before and found they finally reported to the CBs. Just one has updated so far. The kicker is they reported the balance that closed two days ago. Totally skipped February's balance of zero. What's up with that?

DCU , is known for things like that, they update late and this was way before the merger was apprioved. they use to be a great CU, maybe 10 years ago, The only reason i keep my accout
open with them is because i have had the account almost 20 yrs. with no CC increase ever, even though i have a 819 fico score with all 3 bureaus, they want me to apply for it, with a HP ( i'm not doing that) Im waiting to see what the merger will look , but it's a sock drawer card for me, with a netflix monlthy use only.

Re: DCU takes awhile to report to the CBs
Service Credit Union does the same exact thing. They will go months without reporting a zero balance. So I will charge $5 and let that report. If they then do not update my credit file I dispute the account stating that the balance is incorrect. They get mad at me when I do that and have asked that I stop disputing the information. I have let them know as soon as they can provide accurate information in a timely manner I will stop disputing the information. Most of the time that will get the ball moving on correct information being reflected.

I thought the merger was complete so I just looked it up. Supposed to be done later this year. They say -
Combined entity will provide members an unrivaled digital experience, a coast-to-coast branch network with expanded member service hours, and access to premier financial products and advisors.
I guess we will see.
