Discover reporting account twice in Experian CR

G'day,

I'm on a credit repair journey and I noticed on my Experian CR my Discover it CC is listed twice, and the balance of both are being used to calculate my current utilization.

At one point, I lost my card and they issued me a new one. I've never disputed this account with the CB's or Discover so the comments in the CR got me wondering what going on.

If a card is lost and they issue a new card then shouldn't the first account on the CR say in the comments something about a lost card?

Also, why is Experian using the CL and UTL for both when it's the same account?

Is this right or do I need to correct it?

The first account on the CR says:

Re: Discover reporting account twice in Experian CR

I suggest you contact Discover directly, preferably in writing, asking them to confirm that they are correctly reporting the account information as you only have 1 account and you never filed any kind of dispute.   You should get them to validate themselves that they are reporting the account information correctly before you approach Experian as right now you don't know if this is an issue of information being provided incorrectly (Discover) or information being reported incorrectly (Experian).

I'm not sure how Discover specifically handles this senario but when a lost card is replaced with new card number generated ssuers generally either just update the information in the existing report to reflect the new number or report the existing account as closed along with a new account reported that carries over the original open date of the card (Synchrony for example historically has done this).
