Hi all! I have been voraciously cosuming topics and posts by this incredibly community....so much to learn yet, and I'm hoping this wise group an help with a specific question. I disputed prior late payments (from 2019) on my credit report for my mortgage account which is a joint account with my husband. Looks like at least one of the bureaus (TU) has finally taken notice and made a positive adjustment to the payment history. This is great news, but I noticed the change didn't carryover to my husband's CR file for the same mortgage. Do we need to make the same dispute process with his? My concern is that I don't want the mortgage company or bureau to re-open the investigation and come to a different conclusion....and go backwards on the progress made for that account on my report...just looking for guidance. Would I be better to reach out to the mortgage company? Or to the bureaus? And do I point to the change that was made on my report for the same account and ask them to apply the same change? Don't want to wake a sleeping giant if there is any subjectivity to how the adjustment was made on mine....Help! LOL. Thanks in advance for any guidance....
Well first of all...are the lates accurate or inaccurate? If they are inaccurate, then there should be nothing to be afraid of, and you should be able to dispute freely also via your DH's accounts with the bureaus. Either that or you could contact the mortgage lender directly and ask them to send out an update accordingly for his credit reports.
