Agreed --that's the typical delay (36 - 60 hours) that I get with all my score monitoring products.

Changes on your EQ which might signify identity theft --address changes, new accounts, etc --pop up pretty quickly, but changes in items that only affect credit scores are not checked for as often.

Barry once had a post explaining all this, and it's linked in my siggy. Just click "Score Watch Alerts."

Yep, that seems to be the case.  I'm very happy with the new update!

Re: Does Scorewatch Update Immediately??

tmacar,

I agree with the vast majority of your post in response to my post above.  Really, I do.

Once someone has a score of 700, they are usually on their way to even better scores in the future, which by that point can be attained through little more than using one's available credit wisely, keeping utilization low, and always paying on time.

I still have to disagree that 700 will get you just about anything you want.

Congrats on your auto loan, but for every story like that there is another story that shows that 700 isn't quite the ultimate score that will get you just about anything you want.

My credit union gave me a Visa Classic (13.8%) with a $1K CL when I had requested a Visa Platinum (9.9%) with a $5K CL.  My EQ score at the time was 703, my HHI was around $150K at the time, and my overall utilization was less than 1%.

With a 700 score, it would be very difficult to get an Amex Costco True Rewards card, a Citi Platinum Amex, or any card at all from Simmons.  I could name several others, as well.

Yes, 700 is enough to get some very good credit products, including some prime cards from prime lenders, which will only provide more opportunities to improve one's score even more as time goes on.  I still maintian, though, that a 700 score is not quite enough to get you anything you want.

Why this fixation with credit scores as being the determinative factor in any lendor's decision?
Lendors, particualary on the higher-end scale of the market, do manual CR reviews.  A dude or dudess with a 720 who had unpaid CO or CA accounts years ago may not fly as high as the 690 dude or dudess who is slowly building with no prior delinquencies at all.

Creditors dont lend their holy grail to FICO scores.
