How about everyone take a break from all this? Different opinions and references and links have been provided so it comes down more to whatever side you happen to be on. IME here it's very seldom something like this comes to a mutual agreement.
Remember folks all these posts are black words on a white screen. Take it as such. Just because someone doesn't have your view (either side of this) does not mean it's a personal attack on your intelligence or lack thereof. Just agree to disagree and walk away.
@Anonymous wrote:One final post in this thread for the people who refuse to believe the abundant information regarding derog deletion:
• Only inaccurately reported accounts should be deleted. Paid
derogatory accounts, such as collections or charge offs, should
be reported as paid; they should not be deleted.
• Do not delete paid in full collection accounts.
Acceptable reasons for deleting accounts are:
— Accounts which have been canceled and returned to creditor.
— Accounts which have been forwarded or sold to another entity.
— Accounts reported in error.

Even with that, the CRA's delete because the CA's and OC's give them their concent to delete after a successful GW. Whether it's legal or just ir not, it happens.

I know that. I had a Chase 30 day late deleted with nothing more than a GW email. The CRAs know it happens, and it would be too costly for them to verify every single deletion. It was just funny to see a statement on an Experian website suggesting something that is contrary to their policies.

I thought that was a lil weird too, but maybe they dont care about it. They just take the orders from the CA's/OC's

+1... but I actually want to post a thank-you to the OP for providing that link. Was excellent information and I have been reading through it and it gives a lot of insight into the credit reporting process. The company that published the manual is a for-profit lobbying group so you have to take the information as such.. it is not a contract between a creditor and the credit bureau, but it does offer guidelines and suggestioons for using their reporting software. I appreciate you taking the time to research this and provide some real information!
Thanks, and hopefully more threads with a disagreement can end in a productive way with an exchange of facts and information aside from opinions.
