Experian App, Basic Subscription Random Score Updates

Does the basic subscription service provided by Experian for score and report updates have any rhyme or reason as to when it updates the credit score? My last updates were 8/14/20 and 9/13/20. I got an "off-cycle" update today, 10/2/20. What gives? When can i expect my next update then?

A little annoyed because I had been tag teaming Discover Scorecard (Exp Fico 8) and the Experian to get twice a month approximately 15 days apart.  The Discover Scorecard is due to update tomorrow....Hence this latest Experian push is a nuisance as they were not due until the middle of October.

There is nothing other than the usual balance changes in the report which is no different to the previous 2 months.

Experian's own webpage shows the following:

It does update real-time with certain new info like HPs, sometimes with the free sub too.

You can also push a free update using a dispute (once it's resolved/updated).

Interestingly, my friend got an update today too for free, so maybe it's a one-off situation or fluke. I guess 30 days is rather the maximum waiting time, but you could always get a new one earlier.

Re: Experian App, Basic Subscription Random Score Updates

I pay for the myFICO subscription but only use the free Experian subscription. You are updated once every 30 days for free. However when a lot of activity occurs on your Experian CR they will usually email you with an update to go and check, also for free. I sometimes get 4 additional updates a month with Experian. Not to mention my constant updates with the myFICO sub. This isn't unusual. Just enjoy the free updates as they come.

IMO, you're better off with the basic, free version. I've renewed my trial every week for a year. I get a new EX report each day and a refreshed 3-bureau score every 10 days or so. With the paid version, you get the free EX score each day. But, you have to wait a month to get the refreshed 3-bureau score.

100% this, just make sure to cancel before the fee hits so you don't get stuck like I did!

Whenever the trial ends, you cancel, then next time you login they offer the premium version again and you can do the 3-bureau update again anytime then.

Did that twice lol. They say that they allow one refund a year. But, still, be safe and cancel beforehand. I'm setting up a calendar reminder now. ..I think the worst part is that even though I had the "premium" service, I was stuck w the unrefreshed 3 bureau score. lol
