GREAT NEWS!

I've only been on this forum for 2 months and have learned SO much. I had 1 cc with 300 limit. After paying everything off and then finding this forum, I learned how to get things deleted and how this whole fico thing works, utilization, etc... NOW I have nice cards with pretty good limits. Very happy. BofA, Target Visa, CCCU, Chevron, Amex and just yesterday I went online to sign up for our local credit union (for WA state residents only) BECU, and it said to bring the paperwork in today. Just another ckg/savings, but it said it was also a Visa app. Since I don't need anymore cards, I just thought nothing of it. TODAY I AM AT BECU and they said, ok , you're all set. Your new VISA with ****3500 CL *****will be there in a week. I WAS IN SHOCK (but didn't show it). I'm so happy because I've worked very hard. I'm the poster child for getting out of the muck. I couldn't buy a stick of gum on credit a few years back because of my stupid mistakes in my 20s that have haunted me until I paid every last penny off. It feels divine. I'm going to stick to my plan (like I have for many years) and watch my score grow. It was 661 a week ago. I'm dying to know now that my Credit Limits total about 10,000 , how that will affect my score with 1% util. I'm hoping it jumps since my previous Credit Limit total was 300.

Re: GREAT NEWS!

Sure thing. I never knew my old score - afraid to look until everything was paid. Once I pulled my CRs in June, I realized mistakes, and what can/should be deleted. So I made progress.

Every hard inq I've made in the last mo (6) are all new great TL. I should be ok in the long term. My goal is to be in the 700 club to buy a house next year.

My first score was 645 in June. My last score watch last week said 661. None of my new accounts are listed yet. I suspect the scores will go down initially once they post to my CRs, but we'll see. Seeing the progress and getting approvals has meant the world to me. I am very responsible and find it amazing that I have misused credit in my 20s. Never again. I am on top of it now.

Everyone is just so helpful. Thank you.

Re: GREAT NEWS!

Wonderful! I too, made horrible mistakes in my 20's and was/am still paying for them to this day. Your story is so similar to mine- it is almost as if I posted the post myself. Good going and good luck.

Re: GREAT NEWS!

Isn't that funny. I read posts and feel like it's me, too. hahah
Literally going through my stack years ago, making a plan and getting a 2nd job - made all the difference.
I laughed when I called an old Collection Agency asking him to delete this old, but paid account. I asked if he remembered me and he said "oh yes Smiley Happy" ... It was a small consistent payment for what seemed like FOREVER !!! hahha But he was more than happy to help since I told him I was cleaning up old things on my report.
I'm so happy you're in a good place, too. Good luck and thanks for your kind words.
