Call your local Comcast office, or even better, go there in person, and find out if this was an internal collection, or if they really did sell the account to an outside agency. My son was on the road over the summer with his job, and his Comcast account got goobered up. Once he was home and met with them, he was still stuck with a late payment fee, but nothing was reported to the credit bureaus. Go in person! Good luck.

Re: Goodwill Comcast?

Just wondering how you are doing with getting Comcast off as a collection.  I ended my service with them 10/2005 and returned the cable box that month with a forwarding address.  I just noticed a new collection on my credit report that wasn't there last week with Credit Protection Association for $150 through Comcast.  I thought that it had to be a fraud and put an alert on my credit; upon further investigation, Comcast is saying that they never got my cable box.  I can't find my reciept and have never recieved any correspondence regarding this in the last 2 1/2 years.  Is this even legal??  I disputed it with Experian and Credit Protection Assoc. and Comcast is performing a research for the box.  I have been told by a csr from Comcast that they know where all of their boxes are and if they are missing one in my name that I am responsible.  They did tell me that they had my forwarding address but did not come up with proof that I was notified of a missing box.  I just want this off my CR.  I did write a letter through PFB last night and have heard nothing so far.  Is there a better way of going about this?  Can this even be reported if I was never notified?  Thanks for any help or contact numbers.  I live in the Chicagoland area.

Re: Goodwill Comcast?

nee..........I had an issue with comcast in 2004. I dealt with a comcast csr named David T at online_care@cable.comcast.com.

After two GW's to comcast, via email, the account disappeared.

Thank you so much for all of the great info.  I will be making a trip to the local office today, as well as writing  both a pdf and gw letter.  I'll keep you all updated on the progress.

Re: Goodwill Comcast?

Hello,

I am also in the midst of trying to get a collection account removed on my report from Comcast.  I'll say this much.  In my experience dealing with a CSR is a waist of time unless they are part of the Executive Care Group (I don't recall the exact name of the group).  I'll let you know how it goes.  Actually, I should be hearing something today.

Re: Goodwill Comcast?

Just a quick update on my Comcast collection, I just called Comcast to check on the research they were doing to find the missing cable box, and was told that it was resolved and they are sending Credit Protections Association the information to remove it from my credit report.  They did say that it would take about 30 days for that to happen.  The lady from Comcast also advised me to dispute the Collection with all of the credit bureaus just to be sure that it is deleted.  However, they were not able to provide me with any form of written statement saying that the matter had been resolved with a request to remove this from my reports, but that the CA might be able to handle that.

Thanks so much for the great info on this forum, I am now officially addicted!
